GA House Election Rebukes Trump... Oh... Wait... Never Mind... (Read 5870 times)

The people have abandoned Trump. He sucks. He will be impeached or resign. Nobody likes him any more. Etc. Etc. Etc. But you just wait... that next election... that'll prove Trump is extremely unpopular. We're sure. It's real news. We're not making shit up. The 2018 elections will be a decisive victory for Democrats when they will take back the House and Senate and then in 2020 the White House too! Just you wait and see! We mean it! Seriously! Trust us! Did we mention that the day before the last election we stated that Clinton had a 97% chance of winning? Don't forget that! Er, we mean "Forget that!".

From the New York Times, with 79% of the vote counted:

Right now, our most likely estimates span Handel +0.9 to Handel +4.7. The darker region shows the middle 50 percent of our forecasts. The more we know, the narrower our range will be.

Our best guess is that Karen Handel is currently on track to win the election.

Never give up hope:

Democratic strategists we’re talking to say there’s still a path for Ossoff, albeit a narrowing one. Their hopes hinge on mail-in ballots. Those have yet to be tallied but tend to favor Democrats. Ossoff will likely need to win an overwhelming margin to stay alive. That’s a high bar but not unfathomable, we’re told.

DeKalb’s mail-in ballots are expected to be tallied shortly. That should be a big pickup opportunity for Ossoff, although he’s been underperforming there re: in-person votes tonight.

Decision Desk HQ, CNN, AP, and now N Y Times call if for Handel (R). She's expected to win the "tossup" by 4-5%.

With 99% reporting:

Handel    52.6
Ossoff     47.4

Margin of victory: 5.2%.

Unless that last 1% is 100% for Ossoff.

REPUBLICAN WINS CLOSE VICTORY IN SOUTH CAROLINA

Republican Ralph Norman has won a victory that was closer than expected in a special election to fill the South Carolina congressional seat vacated by Mick Mulvaney.

The Republican won just more than 51 percent of votes cast Tuesday in the 5th District. That's compared with about 48 percent for Democrat Archie Parnell.

Parnell, a former Goldman Sachs tax adviser, had argued he was best suited to represent the district, which was in Democratic hands for more than 100 years until Mulvaney's 2010 victory.

CNN Cuts Away from Karen Handel’s Victory Speech

Quote
CNN cut away from Karen Handel’s victory speech after the Republican won the special election in
Georgia’s 6th congressional district on Tuesday night, just as she was about to begin describing the
issues that defined her agenda.

A few minutes earlier, CNN had aired the speech of Democrat Jon Ossoff until it ended. Ossoff was
expected to win by most observers, and carried the hopes of the so-called “#Resistance,” which
hoped that Tuesday would mark the beginning of the end of the GOP majority in the House of
Representatives and of President Donald Trump himself.

On social media, conservatives mocked the downcast faces of CNN’s political journalists, analysts
and contributors as they struggled to digest yet another disappointment. Handel’s victory was just
the latest in a long string of special elections that the Democrats had expected to win, and it was
the one district they felt was well within their grasp. It proved too much for CNN’s Don Lemon, who
evidently could not bear to hear Handel explain to him and to CNN’s audience exactly why it was
that she had won, and what issues her voters cared about when they went to the polls.

There was no breaking news elsewhere that demanded attention. CNN merely cut back to a group
of talking heads.

Well, to be fair, I remember Obama's first victory and him walking on stage with Oprah crying in the front row... I had to cut away from that feed myself... maybe 40 seconds in.

Planned Parenthood:

-  "We need every last cent for women's healthcare."

-  "$730,000 flushed down the toilet on Ossoff."

Not sure what that number represents, but I've read that the Dems spent $30 MILLION on the race. That's a LOT of Pap Smears and mammograms. That's what they do at Planned Parenthood, right?

That's how much PP "donated" to the Democrat candidate Ossoff.

They have their own PAC or what?

They're laundering money.

It's all a shell game.  As long as they don't intermingle the money, it's legal.  They get tax money and lots of outside contributions.

In short:  as long as PP donates to pro-abortion candidates, those candidates fight for PP to continue getting gov't funding.
