Something tells me they went with the cheapest guy they could find.  Not always the best way to go.

Starting from the top of any large tree next to a house is always prudent.  Just need the right equipment, like a very long cherry picker.

Maybe it's the camera position, but it sure looks like the tree grew toward the house, which means it's leaning that way.  You'd need lots of ropes, muscles and maybe a bulldozer to pull the tree over the direction you want.  I saw none of that.
