Damn Tourist Drivers
« on: August 06, 2017, 08:29:31 AM »
Only a matter of time.  Wife was behind some load of tourists, they take off seeing an opening in traffic, only to slam the brakes on just as my wife goes to follow them.  Bang. driver, barely speaks any English.

I am so sick of them stopping randomly, to look as scenery, maps, missed turns etc.  They do it without warning in the most unexpected spots.  Still recall how many times I almost rear-ended some tourist that overshot the turn off for Lanai Lookout or Blowhole and stopped dead in the middle of the highway.

Maybe equip tourist rentals with a strobe light on top to warn local drivers to give them wide berth?

I here ya. I had family that went to the BI for a wedding and laid over here on Oahu before their flight back and invited us to Sunday Brunch at their hotel today. It takes 45 minutes without traffic to get to Waikiki from where I live. And then it takes another 45 minutes to get to the hotel once you cross over the Ala Wai. Too many cars and tourists all trying to last second cross over 3 lanes or moving at 5mph or stopping in the middle of the street to take photos.
SCIENCE THAT CAN’T BE QUESTIONED IS PROPAGANDA!!!

Maybe the State and City  should require people to have a license and insurance before letting people driver a car?  That should solve the problem. Its just a thought.

Yesterday was driving on kapiolani westbound while contraflow was in effect

I was in contraflow lane, and someone on my right tried to turn left on mccully towards Waikiki (the left turn only lane is stopped to my left)
I blasted my horn and they stopped
When I looked in my mirror, they were stopped at the light with turn signal on like they still wanted to turn left into Waikiki

Was a minivan, so I am not sure if it was a tourist or not

But draw your own conclusion

Stupid and inattentive drivers is why I put one of these in all my vehicles.  This is the setup in my car on Oahu,  2003 Matrix.
A real air horn....this is a set of Grovers.  I have Hadleys on my truck.
