From the other video, the guy said that the 320 trigger is 6% heavier than the X5.  So they put the X5 trigger in various 320 frames and no issues.  They also shaved off 30% of something from the stock trigger and had no issues.  So I guess 320 owners will now get a lighter trigger for free.  Or an X5 trigger maybe?

I read the "upgrade" has already been added to the weapons produced for the Army and all new civilian P320s.

We'll know Monday what the existing fix is.  I think they took way too long to publicly announce there is a safety flaw.  Liability concerns are valid, but waiting means more people have a window to sue over not being informed.

The discharge without pulling the trigger can be reproduced without even dropping it....

Just reducing the mass of the trigger is not a good fix for a situation like this as there is still a chance of unintentional discharge.

Needs some kind of trigger block or grip safety or something..  just saying. Cough ahem, 1911, cough....  JK JK lol

One has to wonder if Glock's test team figured out this problem long ago, which prompted them to add the external integrated trigger safety as the solution.

Then again, the Glock trigger isn't like Sig's.  It might be too light, and the take-up too long, to cause the discharge.

Was chatting with a shooter friend in NC that carries a P320 daily (though sometimes he mixes in other guns like a G19).  He and his cop friend are pretty much "Glock guys", but also really like the P320.  Pretty close to my thoughts, except I haven't bought a P320, yet.  Anyways, they were saying that the discussion about this on the Sig forums are somewhat hilarious.  As expected, the feedback ranges from those denying that it happens and claims of setup tests to "the sky is falling".  Seems like they have a fix almost ready to go.  Will continue to keep an eye on this.

Spoke to another friend who is a cop in Houston and he confirmed that Dallas PD has taken the P320 off their list of approved duty sidearms.  My buddy's department is considering it as well, but more off of word of mouth than first hand experiences.

“Drop safe,” Cohen explained, “Those two words don’t exist together. No gun is drop safe. It’s a function of angle, height and surface. If you build it completely drop safe, you legitimize mishandling. Inherently guns are not meant to be dropped, and are unsafe when dropped.”

Sounds like a feature rather than a defect.

Voluntary Upgrade Program details are now available online.

Quote
SIG SAUER is offering a voluntary program for P320 pistols.
This will include an alternate design that reduces the physical weight
of the trigger, sear, and striker while additionally adding a mechanical
disconnector.

I submitted the serial number of my P320.  Awaiting email with instructions for no-cost shipping.

The P320 is the Glock that was meant to be IMO.

So, there is one small issue -- the thing is young compared to Glocks.  It's already being worked out.

Nobody is limited to one pistol.  I'm sure there will be a demand for Glocks even after the P320 becomes the gun to own!

UPDATING:

My P320 arrived at Sig Sauer in New Hampshire yesterday.  I sent the original full size pistol as well as the slide from my compact conversion kit for "upgrades."

They estimated 4-6 weeks for return.

I've tried the "modified" trigger in a new production P320
so bad...

Upgraded guns are not exactly the same as new production.

i am not trying to be argumentative, but that is comparing the upgraded gun to the old production gun
i am talking about the trigger on a new production gun with the upgrades on it
it really sucked
go check it out at prime sports, i know they had one last saturday
or i'd bet the other LGS's are going to get them in soon too

Are you saying you own the original P320?

Since I have the original and am getting the upgrades done, this video is 100% applicable to me.  The new production P320 doesn't interest me yet, unless and until I decide I want a new P320 for some reason.  Anyone buying the new production P320 is not going to be interested in this upgrade thread anyway, since it doesn't apply to new production.

Thanks for your opinion, but dry firing isn't the end-all be-all for triggers.  I was skeptical of the "click" my P320 made when dry firing.  Semis are only supposed to do that in movies!  This video cleared up what caused that and how the upgrades will stop that click.

After using it at the range and in training, I think the P320 is one of the best triggers I've ever used out of the box.  It makes sense, as the trigger is embedded pretty tightly in the removable module.  You'd want that part to be as high quality as possible so you don't have people rushing out to buy and install aftermarket upgrades.

I'll do another update once the gun comes back.  For now, I can only anticipate whether it'll be better, worse, or just "different".

no, I don't own one, but I've shot the stock and apex trigger a bit
just providing a bit of info about the "new" trigger, and I look forward to you and others views about the upgrade and the new triggers vs the old

Seems to be some P320 lovers out there that like the new production models.  I know the P320 now has a bunch of variants (Sig loves to do that to get more sales!).

Here's a video and link to the trigger upgrade Yong Lee says he used...

Yong Lee (4-division Grandmaster) shooting the SIG P320 X5 for the first time in a match (USPSA Renton, WA 5-28-17).
This gun definitely lives up to the hype. Combining this pistol with Grayguns Trigger Enhancement and Springer Extended
Mag Release makes it the best Production pistol I have ever experienced.

ah, herein lies the rub
i am referring to new production as current models that were produced after the drop test results came out

i don't question that this grandmaster loved the trigger in a top end model (x-five) that was modded by the premier sig sauer modification shop (they directly consult with sig and worked with them on the creation of the xfive models)
the may date of this match means that the trigger was not what i am referring to as "new production"

once again, i am not trying to argue, nor demean the P320
just reporting what i experience dry firing one sample
