Seeking answer and suggestions.
« on: August 19, 2017, 07:28:44 PM »
Does anyone know a range open for public that is not ridiculously regulated like Kokohead? At least 100-500 yard line.

Also, I am looking to purchase a Beretta 92 or 96 (Inox only) with the sole purpose of customizing it to a fictional firearm used by a Resident Evil character. 2nd comes to as owning my first personal defense sidearm aside from my primary Veske rifle. Am I seeing correctly the 96 is cheaper than the 92? Which one is more mod friendly? I'm only looking to swap out slide and grip.

Much appreciated in advance.

There's more than one?

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Sorry. Nothing public.  There are range days held by HDF that are less restricted.  Indoor ranges are such as Honolulu firearms and Xring, but might be pricey. Heard Xring requires you to pay to take a 'qual' to rapid fire.  Longer range club's, such as Puuloa Rifle and pistol club, must follow match schedule.

HFR won't allow 223+ anymore because of people damaging the range. So not a option for me atm. Why do I have to pay to qual. Lol. Can't I just show them my Marine rifle badge? Lmao.

Although HDF looks interesting. I'll look into it if it doesn't interfere with my college classes.

Doesn't Schofield requires you to be DoD or AD?

If you are Military any status or DoD you won't have a problem joining. If you are not Mil or DoD affiliated you would be an associate member there is currently a wait list for associate members. The club bylaws state the 60% of the membership needs to be Mil/DoD and only 40% can be associates right now it's lopsided.

I'm a Veteran status. I messaged them once they said I needed to be either Active Duty or civilian DoD.

Yeah. I also don't feel like driving all the way up there anyway. I'm find one closest to Honolulu city area as possible.

Kokohead is about as restrictive as any other public range. Some of the rules are different like allowing metal targets and the 5-round rule. I'm telling ya... it's those damn insurance agents and lawyers. Can't have any fun because of them.

Sorry, thought you were still in the Marines.  A club member can sponsor you to shoot if you still have buddies in the military.

Other than that, you will have to fly to the mainland.

Ugh. I doubt I know anyone. Last person on AD on Hawaii I knew was my old recruiter who lives in Japan. Everyone else on mainland. Everythings better on mainland. I guess I better save up to move there then.

Haha. Thanks. I know a fellow vet in Tennessee willing to help me settle in around Knoxville. He custom creates his own rifle and everything so I am taking whatever opportunity chance I'll have. For now, 3-4 years of Hawaii. At least for the time being, I can recreate my Samurai Edge  pistol and make it a prize possession. I'm still annoyed about HFR not allowing 223+ anymore, but 9mm works for me. I'll do what I get for now.
