This is precisely what stirring up the immigration debate is made to distract us from. Wealth in this country is so concentrated at the top that society is tearing itself apart, and the solutions coming down from above are to throw more gas on the fire. I'm pretty sure this story does not have a happy ending.

I found the idea that DACA was illegal/unconstitutional interesting after the supreme court was split 4 to 4. Seems to make it a grey area really, though I think on principle it is problematic if you let a president be able to ignore laws by executive order.

Some people may be a bit confused on why Trump seems to be flip flopping today. Big companies are destroying the labor market to maximize profits, and they are also the ones that pick who gets elected. It's a wonder it took him this long to turn into just another Clinton/Bush/Obama

I hope he's not giving in.  1 thing I like about him is that he does his own thing.

 I do understand the need to work together, but DACA is unconstitutional when it was a XO.  So there should be no compromising.  Maybe changing the law would be better.

Trump is not flip-flopping.

He had 2 options:  Do nothing or take action on DACA.

Had he done nothing, the Obama DACA EO (not a law) would have been overturned in court since it's unconstitutional (even Hirono agreed with that), and all Dreamers would have been immediately subject to deportation.

By taking action, he did the same as the courts with the exception of adding a six-month delay.  Now Congress has that time to finally do what they only talk about -- passing a DACA law to treat the Dreamers fairly and lawfully.

Trump actually kept his promise of reversing Obama's immigration policy while protecting the Dreamers until Congress figures it out.  Trump still has the power to sign the bill or not, whatever it may look like.

.BTW, the reason Trump acted when he did is 10 State's Attorneys General gave Trump until September 5 to make a decision.  If he failed to act, they were prepared to take the Obama DACA policy to court.

The republican controlled house and senate could do a lot of things but they are almost as bad as the democrats, and in some cases worst. The spineless Mcconnell should start by changing the rules in the senate to a simple majority. I'm personally so frustrated and feed up with the republicans and their inability to do what they promised voters they would do. I know they hate Trump but it seems like they will screw Trump even if it means screwing the country, which is what they appear to be on their way in doing. Just like McCain with voting with the democrats on health care. Can just go on and on but I'm sure everyone else here is well aware of all the garbage.

Agree.  This is Trump's shot across the RINO's bow:  do something for the Dreamers, or you'll be wearing that noose around your neck come midterms.
