President Trump vs. sports
« on: September 24, 2017, 05:38:10 PM »
I agree with the POTUS he's got a point that no one dares say against the giant sports industry.
The USA > sports
without it they would NOT exist.
Its a shame that the NFL commissioner sees things the other way.
It's a different generation.
I can imagine that if the POTUS during WWII would issue a statement like that the sports industry would take a bow and punish its players for taking a knee.
Shame on sports leaders.
It's a slap in the face of veterans who earned far less and paid more for freedom than they could ever imagine.

No sympathy for guys who got a free college ride playing a game, only to get paid MILLIONS for playing a GAME.

Taking a knee during the anthem brings attention to the oppressed how?

Why not use your millions and your social platform to actually make a difference, ala JJ Watts?

The left hates everything about this country. Everything.

Personally, I am insulted by these asshat twatwaffles, they insult the memory of my loved ones and many others.  FUCK THEM.

If this country is so bad and oppressed, Why the hell don't they go try some other country around the globe that better fits their ideals?

I'll tell you why, they are fucken pussies that wouldn't want to give up their luxury and free fucken ride, that ride at the cost and expense of REAL AMERICANS.

Any person that feels this way should really STOP patronizing ANY of these sports where these people are disrespecting you, your family, and your country.   MONEY talks BULLSHIT walks....

This is why it is better for businesses and organizations not to get involved with politics, when it is not necessary. Now people on all sides are upset.

Sports exist in every country. For the time being the USA is a wealthy country but if we continue down the path being displayed here, eventually the history books are going to be writing about our mistakes, the same way we write about the mistakes of other past empires. Without individual freedom, america is no better than any other foreign tyrannical regime.

I somewhat agree with their cause, but disagree at how they're bring awareness to it.  Kneeling spits in the face of all Americans and those who lost/serve the flag.  You alienate those who love America and the loss of viewership shows this.  I have never heard of anyone who has never watched the game now say they're going to watch it because of the kneelers.  But I have heard many who are now boycotting it because of the kneelers.  So it only hurts the NFL and teams.

The owners should have dealt with this from day 1.  But they chose to be PC and not do anything.  That's why I love our president.  He's not afraid to say what everyone's thinking.  He got balls.

Tv football ratings took a big dive last night.
Raiders deserved to get bashed after that publicity  stunt.

It wasn't the POTUS tweets that got them those ratings - they did it to themselves.

Last week, President Trump does a reach around with Schumer and Pelosi. This week, he's back in touch with his base. Hopefully for the Party, things go well in Alabama.

So If they protest the police then all that agree with them can register on some national data base. We can call it Crap Back.  If you don't like the police they won't come if you call. It's not their job to protect. It will take some of the load off of the overworked and sometimes understaffed departments.

If you protest the opportunities some get over others then these athletes can form some corporation and start hiring these guys so they can start earning money like all the other working class people.

Just my opinion.

Looks like we're gonna need replacements for the Dallas Cowboys.

I disagree with those who take a knee in protest (or anything disrespecting the flag), and if I was a pro football player, I would at least link arms because I believe the 1A is just as important as respecting the flag and one amendment more important than the 2A.

Anyone with true respect for 1A should have no criticism of this protest. Mandatory respect of the flag is not part of the constitution, it's disrespecting the flag that is (supposed) to be constitutionally protected. At this point, most of the new NFL protestors are doing so not because they agree with the original cause, but because they are rebelling against the anti-1A sentiment that has arisen.

Disliking protesters for their personal views is fine. Not watching the game for that reason, might be okay too. A president calling for these guys to be fired starts getting iffy.

The American idea to not watch a sport because you don't like the participants is sad. I don't like Jon Jones in the UFC, but I think he should be allowed to fight even if he uses cocaine and crashes into cars of pregnant ladies (as long as he is not in jail). I want to see who is the strongest fighter. Not the strongest out of the nice, moral guys who people like. Why not just watch and cheer for the guys you hate to lose?

The main thing this country has going for it is wealth. The principles are disappearing. There's no reason any individual needs to feel obligated to respect the nation he lives in. We work and pay taxes. The military isn't defending us for free. The military protects the government, not the people. Some guys make more money than others. Why should they be grateful? They may see it as the result of their own ability. What about the guys who don't make much money, or feel oppressed? They have to worship a nation that mistreats them?

I can say from first hand experience that sports at this scale from what our country enjoys does not come for free.
Without security, sports would not flourish. A stable country provides that platform. Much as fertile soil provides for a healthy crop.
They want to be part of politics? Do it off the field. The National Anthem is played before a game to remind everyone that sports comes after a free nation.

I guess that's somewhat reasonable. Would you watch a sport where the national anthem wasn't played at all?

There is no 1A at work.

I can't show up disheveled, smelling like ass and wearing a "Fu&$ You !" t-shirt to work with customers because I have the Right.
I don't have that Right at work. When the whistle blows and the day is done I can do whatever I want that's legal. But not at work.
Your Boss can set a dress code and professional standard for their employees.

We can't be discriminated against for a lot things but sticking finger to your Boss doesn't fall under any protected thing.
So it shouldn't be a talk about 1A in my opinion.

Love Flapp's kneel to protest oppression post.
Makes no sense.
I personally loved the raised fist the Olympic track guys did back in the day to show solidarity.
That was during the Anthem on the biggest stage and I thought it was pretty cool.

I agree, except there's a difference between my boss telling me I can't wear a "Fu&$ You !" t-shirt at work and POTUS telling me I can't kneel during the Anthem. Trump does represent the government, after all. Again, I don't agree with the protesters but I do agree with the 1A.

You can if you want to.  Just don't be surprised or cry foul, racism, discrimination, etc when you face consequences for doing so.

I found this while Googling:

The NFL’s operations manual, which, unlike its rule book, is not available to the public, states:

“During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

Doesn't a player have to agree to abide by this in their contract?
SCIENCE THAT CAN’T BE QUESTIONED IS PROPAGANDA!!!
