Super scary....
"The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

It's a good thing 2 people were taking videos instead of helping the policeman.

Unfortunate, but the police have no Constitutional duty to risk their lives to save yours.

And you have no Constitutional duty to help others, either.  The choices one makes do, however, speak to an individual's character and humanity.

Recording the event rather than help was the individual's choice.  But, he's fair game for criticism from the public, just as any Cop would be.

Thanks for posting up the full length version, and not the shortened one everyone is sensationalizing.

As he approaches the officer it looks like he snaps his right wrist as though locking a knife open, right before the attack begins.
Also after the guy gets shot something falls out of his right hand.
It also looks like the cop lost his radio and something else, because he picks up the radio to make his call

He grabbed something from the officer's belt when they were on the ground.  I'm guessing a flashlight or pepper spray.

There is a big difference though.  Police are being paid for what they do to protect society.  Civilians are not compensated to protect society and are subject to criminal and/or civil liability should they take the law into their own hands.

You, of all people, should know this.

I think it was a spare mag pulled from the cops belt. At least that's what initial reports said. (We know how reliable those are.)

As far as videoing. Oddly enough the video from 2 angles clears the cop of any wrongdoing IMO.
And maybe gave him a clear shot without a hostage bystander mucking it up. (Just another way to see it.)
2 bystanders jump on the guy and he dies of drug induced asphyxiation it's gonna suck to be the Good Samaritan.  (World we live in)
Cop looks like he's kicking the guys ass until the belt grab.
Bystanders could be petite female and a 90 pound Uber Liberal. We don't really know.  They're usually fastest on the video trigger. "
Heat of the moment decisions.

Like Bass said if you see the one shortened video, without the first part, media could spin it as another cold blood shooting of a "good boy"
Clearly it wasn't.

In the first second or two, you hear the Cop use a Taser, and the assailant reacts by pausing a half second.  That's when the assailant goes full on assault mode.

The Cop actually did what people on the scene were criticizing him for not doing -- using less lethal means of controlling the situation.  He tried.  As most people who know about these things lecture us, these non-lethal weapons are not 100% effective.

You step into help you become liable,

Cop shoots him, you helped the cop, you get sued for the death along with the cop. Cop has the city defend him, you have to pay your own legal fees.

I don't know what you meant by that, but it's irrelevant.

"Civilians" is a misnomer, as police are not military.  Police are no different than any other citizen except they have police powers and are trained and equipped to enforce the laws and defend themselves and others.

If you want to build walls so that no one is ever expected to veer outside of their professional lanes to help others in need, that's your choice.  I don't want to live in a country where Cops are left to fend for themselves no matter what.

This "Cops versus everyone else" bullshit has to stop.  The whole BLM narrative was based on the "Hand up, don't shoot" lie.
