as an east coast mainlander, just curious about gun ownership and acquisition in paradise.  here in jersey, one of the worst gun law states, we require a firearm id card that requires fbi/cia/mental background checks, then fingerprinting, about 1-2 months wait and $40 for the permit.  that allows long arm purchasing.  for handgun purchasing, more forms filled out and about a $5 fee, another 1-2 months wait and ONE handgun per month allowed to be received from an ffl.  there are NO carry laws for jersey citizens.

At least NJ issued 1 CCW permit, Hawaii issued ZERO in 2016, 2015, 2014,2013...

And you're Gov Christy pardoned a lady who was carrying without a permit.

It comes under the heading of States Rights.

Do states rights actually apply here in regards to all of the registration and permit fees? I'm asking the question based on Murdock v. Pennsylvania in which the supreme court states that fees and taxes on constitutional rights are unconstitutional, thus not be paid. Even Hawaii recognized 2A as a right, they've just regulated the crap out of. And do we even need a permit based on Shuttlesworth v. City of Birmingham? I know I'm just feeding fodder out here, but just tired of the ever overreaching arms of bureaucracy.
