AK vs AR
« on: March 02, 2012, 10:47:12 PM »
So I bought a Noveske "chainsaw" stripped lower and decided to immediately build another complete rifle. (go figure)  :D

I figured I would post pics of the build, even if its not 100% complete yet.

I also decided to do a AK vs AR comparison.

That AR is nice but that AK is SICK!

KK do you have optics for all your rifles or do you cycle the optics between the guns?

GREAT question G!!!

I have always been in the one scope/one gun camp. But now with finances being what they are and with removable scope mounts being as good as they are this can make things more affordable!

I've been trying to fall in love with the AK but I just can't at the moment. Something about the way it looks just doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy all over. Maybe its the stamped steel parts that look crude. Maybe its the slo-mo videos on you tube that show a lot of barrel flexing. I dunno. Maybe if I shot one, that would do the trick. Hope I get over it 'cause I'd like to get one eventually.

If you haven't shot one, you won't understand.

Based purely on the fun to shoot factor,

When I shoot a AR...........

When I shoot my AK's......... :D ;D >:D :geekdanc:

Probably cuz of prior service with burst rifles?

Go to one of the fun shoots and dump a mag...........hooked

If KK or myself are there,  I'm sure we'll have something for you

If you plan on getting one, it may be better to get one sooner rather than later. Things could get really crazy if it looks like BHO will be re-elected. The more desireable rifles and accessories will disappear quickly due to panic buying if this should happen. I highly recommend you try one out asap. I prefer the Bulgarian rifles especialy the side folders made by Arsenal, and Hungarian AMD's (you will probably love it or hate it). The rifles made by Century are a crap shoot. I avoid the 223 caliber rifles and I stick with the 762x39 and 545 calibers.

All barrels flex, some more than others but that is more to sizing and cartridge than type of firearm.  What is freaky is seeing the sides of the receiver flex, but I would assume that happens on my HK roller lock firearms as well.

The comparison between the two platforms seem somewhat analogous to that old saying I once heard a father say to his son: "...Son, there are girls you go out to have fun with and those that you marry....."

What's going to piss me off is when I finally get enough money scraped together to finally buy my AR, and they're completely unavailable because of a panic buy, triggered by the looming prospect of a panic buy triggered by the possible re-election of Barack Hussein Obama.

I like both AK's and AR's.

I love that you can shoot hundreds or even thousands of rounds from an AK without cleaning it. It is very reliable.

I love the fact that you can shoot sub moa with an AR.

They're both excellent rifles which is why the AK is still used in many countries and has been used since the 40's.

Also the reason why the "AR" (M16/M4) is the longest serving combat rifle in U.S. history.
