Lost My Permit - Need to Renew
« on: November 13, 2017, 10:03:45 AM »
Well, I cleaned out my office about 4 months ago and somewhere in that process I've lost my firearm permit.

I'm not sure when it expires though, I just remember it was sometime during the week after Veteran's Day. Is there anything I need to do other than submit the registration papers again? Bring my gun(s) down to HPD and just go through the process again?

I looked all over HPD's site and I just can't seem to locate the info needed.

maybe ask them for a new copy?  wouldn't hurt, as they should have it on file already, and shouldn't incur additional cost since you already paid rapback (I'm guessing).  Worst case scenario, you just have to apply for a new longarm permit.

there should be no need to bring down your guns already, as they should be registered, which different from the permit.

Cool, I can do that for sure - but I had gotten the permit and registration about a month prior to the Rapback change. I'm assuming I've got to add myself to there, foresee any difference in the renewal process by chance?

If you're not in RAPBACK, you'll have to pay the $42 fee when you apply for the renewed permit.

Since you had the original, I don't think you can use a copy when buying a long gun.  You'll have to sign a statement you have tried and can't find the permit.  It's basically a police report so they have documentation you don't have 2 permits in your possession.  The rest is standard fill out the forms, show ID, and wait two weeks.

Rapback is like rattle snake venom.  Just give it a little time and it will get you.

Even if you still had your original permit, if you brought in a firearm to register, they will make you pay the $42.00 for Rapback.
