CCW 2018
« on: November 13, 2017, 01:18:36 PM »
Since the 2015 drive yielded only 44 applications for CCW permits and 2016 had 27, what are the odds of getting gun owners involved for 2018?

As it seems that with the current activities in Las Vegas and Texas, our legislature is poised to take more of our 2A rights and abilities away. 2018 is an election year and they are going to push hard on anti-2A this cycle. We had roughly 22 thousand handguns registered in Hawaii in 2016 but how many of us stood up to say I want my rights? I'll say I'm guilty of not standing up. But why? Why do we not let our voice be heard? Are we afraid of getting harassed? Being labeled a right wing fascist Nazi? Worse yet apathy. Why are we not demanding that our rights be respected? We don't have to pay fees or register to use Facebook with HPD. I haven't been asked to pay the government for my 4th or 5th amendment rights. We don't pay a poll tax when we vote, which is exactly what the registration fee is.

Maybe this is just a rant about how we get screwed here in Hawaii and other "progressive and forward thinking states" with our rights. But maybe we should stop bitching about the problem and be it's solution.

I have written to my rep and he proposed a CCW bill.  I also wrote to our state reps for them to support HB38 (Hudson Bill).  And to the new chief to see what her views on "exceptional circumstance" is, but got no response.

But I won't waste my time applying for a Hawaii CCW and knowing also a question on an out of state CCW might be "were you previously denied before".

Yeah...that is one of my reasons for not applying also. I don't want to check the box that I've been denied.

So where does that leave us all? That may be the main reason none of us have ever applied here and just gotten the Arizona, Florida, Utah or Virginia CCW as they have the non-resident permits that get honored everywhere else.

But thanks for at least getting the ball rolling.
