Any benefits of NOT being in RAPBACK?
« on: November 14, 2017, 05:59:23 AM »
I already have 3 guns registered: an M4, a Ruger 10/22, and a Sign P220/.45. These were all registered pre-rapback.  The only gun I need to make my collection complete is a shotgun.  I am currently in the mainland for training and was interested in getting my shotgun here (cheaper/don't need a new long gun permit).

Does anyone see any pros/cons?

I'm confused, are you NOT planning on bringing the shotgun back to HI?  If you do, you have to register it within 5 days and here comes the Rapback man....

Pros: The local police will hopefully be notified of any arrest or crim activity outside of Hawaii nei.
"hopefully" because they can't even find this sick, CRIMINAL - http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/36830915/authorities-search-for-missing-state-hospital-patient

Cons: it costs $42, there's no VIP card, being in Rapback doesn't get you any chicks

BLUF: Rapback is a system that is targeting the wrong group of people.

If I do buy one I will bring it back, then have to register and join the rapback club. If I just stop buying guns, now then l can save $42.

There is no pro for us being in rap back.  It can only take our guns away.

Make sure you don't buy a shockwave because HPD is making up the rules on their own about this one.

PROS of being in CRAPBACK
NONE

CONS of being in CRAPBACK
Paying $42 (potentially every time you register if the police decide to do so)
Singing a waiver of your 4th and 5th amendment rights : Yep thats right that consent form is a waviare on your rights, yo give them consent to search you when they want and to take possession (ownership) of your finger prints
Being accused of every crime ever committed that is ran through the FBI's systems : Your fingerprints are stored in a CRIMINAL database and ran against crimes to see if you committed them, Making you a suspect in every crime just because you own a gun
Giving Hawaii consent to do whatever they want with your fingerprints for any lawful (Pretty much Whatever they want) reason
Your now in a federal gun registry :  Feds decide to ban semi autos ? They now have your name and personal information to come and take them (not that Hawaii wouldn't give that info from its registration info)

If you buy a firearm in the mainland and dont register it its a misdemeanor. You would only get caught if you told people.

So I guess there are no benefits, unless I really really need more guns and want to be $42 poorer.

Thanks for your thoughts. And yes, I bought in my M4 from Mississippi last year. The gun store did not track the serial number, the airline/airport at both Mississippi and Honolulu did not track the serial number. If I was a criminal, I could have kept my gun without any one knowing. But, I am a law abiding conservative/ citizen/veteran who obeys the law. More laws do not lower crime when it is the criminals who use them in their favor.  Right now I'm in Oklahoma and I am so envious of these guys that can carry in Walmart. All the while no one is getting shot and is actually lettering criminals from robbing innocent citizens.

That is the idiotic part of the system here in hawaii.  the only people following their asinine rules are law abiding citizens.  if you were a criminal, you could import a lot of guns illegally into hawaii that way.  I'd also hazard a guess that you could utilize the mail system and ship yourself firearms from other states directly (illegal), and no one would catch you.

Hell, you could steal firearms in another state, import them to hawaii, and register their serial numbers as "legal firearms" if you chose to.  If the other state doesn't track the serials, there's nothing to say that the gun is stolen.  And that's only for guns with serial numbers, since pre 1968 it wasn't required.

So you/someone you know already had experience with the shock wave. Are they saying it's not legal in Hawaii.

ATF says it is legal because it is not a short barrel shotgun
HPD says it is not legal because it is a short barrel shotgun

^^^This and I think there was an older post about it also.  If I recall, someone got a letter from the ATF saying it's not a shotgun.  They wanted a letter from HPD saying so also before they buy one and having to register it, then get it confiscated or arrested.  But HPD refused to issue a letter saying it's not a shotgun.

Its not  a shotgun its a pistol. ALL firearms with a barrel less then 16 inchs are pistols in Hawaii.

No advantage for rapback. It's meant for the FBI to keep track of teachers and daycare workers to make sure they don't perform any Mooreish behavior. It's ridiculous. We don't even know if the system works or not. The main point of the rapback is to deter citizens from owning a firearm. The next step is to require us to obtain insurance to protect anyone we might shoot. God forbid!

Pro:  if your already in RB, better chances on getting a deal on a used gun.

Why:  Guys that don't want to be in RB won't buy a gun even if the price is good.  Guys in RB won't buy a gun because they are broke from all the earlier great deals

:-)
