Redding National Match Dies- Any good?
« on: December 01, 2017, 10:10:39 AM »
Looking for my first die set for precision loads in 308 and 5.56N.  I have read that the Redding National Match set is good but would like some feedback from y'all.

I have the type s match bushing dies that I use for my ar-15s. They are really good and make accurate loads. The micrometer seating die is nice but mine is nearly bottomed out when seating bullets to mag length. I don't know if that's common.

Thanks for the info.  I was reading a post on sniper's hide for reloading precision loads. The author used S Match type dies.  Any advantages to these over the straight National Match set?

The type s set has a bushing die. It allows you to control the neck tension with bushings and remove the expander. You need to buy the bushings separately. Size is bullet diameter + 2xNeck wall thickness - desired tension. .243-.247 for 223rem.  Just make sure you don't get the kine with bushing neck die and separate body die.

I can't really say its better. Just depends what you want to do.

Thanks for the info. My POU is to make precision loads for my gas guns (AR 15 national match and SCAR 17s.)
