How would you spend $2000
« on: March 07, 2012, 08:34:41 PM »
So there was a very exciting discussion on the merits of a $2000 AR vs a $600 AR on this forum.
http://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=2767.msg27564#msg27564

It got me thinking.

If you won a $2000 shopping spree at the LGS and the only parameters were that:
A) You had to buy a semi auto rifle
B) you could only buy one rifle.

How would you spend $2000?

Can't buy ammo, optics, magazines or anything else but one semi auto rifle.

No experience with rifles but if I had to choose something now, I'd probably get a Noveske AR15.

[edit] The only thing I'd like to say is this choice is because of the one rifle limit. Otherwise, I would rather buy 2x $1000 rifles... one for me and another for the wifey.  Double the firepower!  :)
I think, therefore I am armed.

Send me a check for $2000 and I will surprise you!

I think I would buy a 50BMG upper for the AR and a complete AR in 7.62x39. Thats still one gun?
of course got lots of room for accessories, scopes.....

I would go with a HK MR556 and pay the difference.

Choice #2 would be the LWRC M6A2 SPR.

Sorry, couldn't help it........

I might spend it on a Les Baer or a socom with the loaded package. I would rather spend it on a downpayment on a sako TRG. I know its not a semi but I can still dream.

I like the idea of the HK M556. But I think I'd get a LMT MWS or Noveske N6 and pay the difference.

If it were a $2000 max, then I'd probably get a Noveske N4 upper with an 18" SS barrel.

A good Bartlien barrel, a good action, solid stock, good gun smith.

Or Pit's SA M1A, and the extra cash for good match ammo...  If only I had a spare $2000 bill. :(

Choice #2 would be the LWRC M6A2 SPR.

If you ever got around to shooting my SPR you wouldn't want the MR.  MR is a brick, unless you spend the money, pay the difference and reprofile the barrel to lighten it up.

^^^BTW if you want to shoot a brick of a piston gun, you can do that too.  I've also got a LWRC upper with quite the fat and chubby barrel.

I really want to take a SPR for a test drive.

I would never purchase a $600 AR.   I would rather have a $600 ak.    The lwrc line seems like a winner and OGC prices can't be beat.  I think the op who made that $600 ar post was trying create some interests on cheapo ar's.

A: Semi auto : TAVOR, SCAR 16/17, fs2000, ps90, RFB, SIG 556 XI, ACR, XCR, LWRC Operator depending what is on hand at the LGS.

B: As in bolt action rifles? no  Just go into owning firearms so I rather not try to remeber all different type of manual of arms
