Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.

I see Tim from military arms channel, and Gun Owners of America (GOA) doing stuff since the NRA made some displeasing proposals and stuff.
I’m no good with them hepolitical talk, but that’s what I saw going on.

I'm not going to defend everything the NRA does, but doesn't the fact the NRA is the Big Bad Boogey Man the Left/anti-2A loonies like to disparage indicate they are doing something right?  Doesn't it make sense to back the group making the most waves than a new group with less experience and fewer effective lobbyists?

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.  They don't have to be your best buddy!

NRA does far more than any other organization and people don't realize it.  For example, they may do 50 good things and a few you don't agree with.  GOA and SAF may do 5 good things.  You can hate NRA for taking stances you don't favor, but you have to take everything into consideration.  NRA also has to represent 5 million members, it's difficult to get everyone to agree to everything.  Also politics is a game, you plan for the long term over the short term win.

We are much better off with them than without them.

Doing some research on Dallas, TX.  CCW is good to have as there are a lot of ghetto areas there, trying to figure out where the safe places are.  Supposedly the NW quadrant of Dallas is the best place to stay.  Not sure if I'm going to risk using their mass transit but it is tempting with a $25 weekly pass versus $400 for a rental car and parking.

For things to do there, theres the Bush Presidential Library, JFK Museum and the grassy knoll, Perot museum, and the aquarium.  Looking for an indoor/outdoor range to visit.

I've been in grapevine, which is just north of DFW, it's not ghetto
there's a huge outlet mall called grapevine mills, I would bet there are lots of hotels/motels in the area

one consideration is that there are plenty of people open/concealed carrying, so it somewhat increases your security
if you stay in the main/tourist areas, you will be safe
I spent a long weekend there, and never felt unsafe, and I chose not to CCW before I left on the trip

I'll keep that in mind, it's a bit far from the convention center and subway station though.

I've been looking at crime stats and Dallas isn't too bad compared to other large cities, about average.  I have gotten a bunch of warnings to stay north of Highway 30 which runs through the center of Dallas.

Look son I’ve been fighting this battle for over 40 years. Understand what you’re saying but the NRA and HRA needs to concentrate on places like Kali, N.Y., Hawaii, etc. if I had a dollar for every letter, not email, but letter I’ve sent to the NRA ILA about this very subject I’d be rich. I either get no response or a canned reply. Calling them, forget about it but you’re correct but I’ll say this: as long as we in Hawaii keep voting in the same useless, spineless scum bags back into office, we’re doomed and deserve what we get. An ammo bill similar to Kali will happen here. Not a matter of if but when I’d we don’t wake up. Can’t depend on the NRA or HRA anymore as far as this state is concerned. IMHO the NRA has written this place off. As for me, my time here in “paradise” is limited. A move to Utah is an extremely distinct possibility. Got land down by Bryce Canyon so I’m two thirds of the way there.

The NRA ILA rep comes over here every spring, so I'll create an event for anyone to attend.  You can also come with us to the NRA annual meeting where you can talk to the NRA, SAF, and GOA in person, or give me stuff so I can present it to them.

All of these organizations are small and depend on the members to do most of the work. NRA ILA and HRA isn't what you think it is.  I'm still somewhat new to the legislative side of this, but I've learned that the failures are the result of the gun community and organization members.
