National gun ownership rates.

No idea of validity of the numbers. But guess where Hawaii rates, before you open the article.

I wonder how they got that statistic?
That would mean half the people of this state owns a gun.
I doubt that very much.

Being one of the states with illegal gun registrations laws, I'd expect that one to be more accurate.

hmmmm
yeah, never thought about it like that

Now that you mention it, I think a lot of non-gun people do have guns but just have them stashed away.
I know people like that.

What, Me Worry?

Survey, so the numbers are so inaccurate they should be ignored

Yeah. I didn’t put much stock in the numbers after reading that. I thought maybe if they were counting total guns owned per capita, but no idea a reliable or accurate way of getting that number.

I know of many gun owners from pre-registration days who did not register their guns. Many didn’t know and some have since passed away, so guns were eventually registered after inheritance or estate sales.

I thought about doing my own survey.  Ask 250 people from different areas if they own a gun or have one in their household and have them write their answer down and put it in a box.  Should give a more accurate number.

Problem I see with the survey in the OP was Hawaii probably had a very small sample size, less than 20 if they divided the 4,000 by state population, and participants chose to do the survey.

I've seen that list in the past. I call... to put it politely... extremely highly unlikely.

Just look at this list and tell me that the progrression doesn't defy any notion of  "commonsense":

1. Alaska
2. Arkansas
3. Idaho
4. West Virginia
5. Wyoming
6. Montana
7. New Mexico
8. Alabama
9. North Dakota
10. Hawaii

Haha. That's laughable. It also means, that on average 1 out of every 2  people (45.1% excluding tourists) you see walking around Honolulu is a gun owner. Who knew all those people were hunters and/or competitive shooters and/or self-defense advocates. Sure they are.
