With McDermott out of the running, what do you think of Tupola? I think she has a chance against Hanabusa for Governor.

I'm going to call her office to find out what her non-BS view is on the 2a.  But Hanabusa will most likely win because everyone in Hawaii knows her name.

I don't think either one of them would be able to win the Governor's seat.  McDermott has a lot of experience and background, but he is a fierce Republican.  He would need to pull conservative/moderate democrat voters to his side which I don't see happening against Hanabusa.

I don't know much about Tupola, but she doesn't appear to have much background, political experience,and name recognition behind her.  I don't think she has a chance.  Maybe in the future but not now.  I'm surprised she's running in this election.

I like the outreach she does on the west side. I’m not sure if she’s a RINO but then again most of them are. Out of the few available, she’s probably the only one willing to stick her neck out.

My vision of a Republican candidate that could win the Governor's seat is a liberal/moderate Republican that can get democrat votes.  Someone that's has done bi-partisan stuff.  Or a Democrat that switched sides.

Also someone that is well known like a prior Honolulu mayor, celebrity, CEO etc.

I agree. That would be the most likely winner but difficult to find in today’s environment.

Tupola has a huge following on the west side; people love her.

When i spoke with her, she was pro-2a.

She's very easy to talk to, and gives direct answers.

I just hope she is genuine about it if she takes up the offer. And not like Stanley Chang of Hawaii Kai.   He uses the "I've been shooting at Koko Head before".

yeah, I've gotten that answer from Stanley chang when he was canvassing my neighborhood and I told him I would never support him after he proposed gun control legislation on the city council
