Trade my RL550 for an Square Deal B
« on: January 05, 2018, 08:20:01 PM »
Don’t load rifle any more on my RL550B so contemplating selling it and get a Square Deal B. Load for 9mm, 357 and 45ACP. Wonder if it’s worth it. Don’t shoot pistol as much as I used to but still shoot enough to justify a progressive. Whatcha think?

You still can use the 550 for pistol rounds as well.
The only thing the Square Deal offers is auto indexing. The dies are not an industry accepted standard, so you are looking at buying Dillon SD dies.
I'd keep the 550 as I  believe it is more flexible than the Square Deal - you use industry standard dies
If you loaded 308 or 3006 on the 550, the shellplates can be used for 45ACP. In fact, some rifle shellplates can be used for pistol as well.

I agree with ren.  When you have a square deal set up you can pump out rounds, but to switch to different calibers is a PITA.

Yeah, used to have one some time back. You jogged my memory. It was a PIA to change calibers. Decided to keep the 550 and just load pistol on it... :shaka:
