New California - Our 51st State?
« on: January 21, 2018, 08:35:39 PM »
The right in California are trying to separate themselves from the tyrannical left in California. They want to become our 51st state.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/01/16/new-california-declares-independence-california-bid-become-51st-state/1036681001/

Normally I wouldn't post something like this as I know it will never happen. The reason I posted this is because when I posted this on my Facebook account, my family in California had not heard this at all. Could it be that a deliberate news blackout in California about this is occurring? All of my family that had not heard this are very left wing progressives. Only the conservatives in my family had heard of this movement. I find this very telling...

I'll admit, I didn't read the article at first and thought that the left wanted to secede from the US again.  Something that would probably be a good thing for the United States.  Found it very interesting after reading the article, the right of that state has the same feeling.  The big cities of California is that state's cancer.  I'm sure if they cut out that cancer, that would do wonders for freedom on the left coast.

One big problem is that the state government is right in the middle of New California. I wish they would agree to move the state government offices and let the rest of CA become our 51st state. But you know it will never happen.  :( :( :(

Wishful thinking for me would be if it did occur I would consider moving to the new state at some point during my retirement so I could be closer to my family. Again, wishful thinking.

It looks like the bad blue part of the map would be the section that falls into the pacific at the next big earthquake.

we should do that here....section off the area around punchbowl and king and make that it's own self governing area.
They can pass whatever laws they want inside their little state.

The problem is there is no Left. If there was then Trump's supporters would be voting for them because they would stand up for working people. Instead there are rich coastal snobs who act like they are better than everyone else while benefiting from the same policies the Right uses to drive down wages and bankrupt society.
Stop blaming lazy people. We didn’t do anything.

This is not completely new in concept.  Eastern WA/OR have talked about breaking off from the liberal cities on the western sides of the states that are worlds apart in ideology from the rural and farming parts of the States.  The rural residents and farmers are taxed and regulated into oblivion.  They don't know who produces food and they don't take care of the hand that is feeding them.  Talks of a new State or joining Idaho has been kicked around and movements set up just like CA is doing.  CA has gone into lunacy.  My brother and his family live there and if not for certain things tying them down, they would GTFO as he cannot stand the way the State is run.

Another big problem is that many who cannot afford to live in Cali anymore are a big part of the reason that California is what it is, but they are trying to do the same things to the new States/areas that they move to.  You would think that they get it, but they don't.

I think every state has a separtist movement, except here the Hawaiians just want their kingdom returned. I grew up in NW Washington and there was a movement by the right to separate from the tyrannical state government and call it Cascadia. California has always thought they’re better than the other states and develop their own regulations like auto pollution controls and featureless firearms. They’re worse than Texas (who actually did separate from the union for 20 years).
