Fire! Fire!

Brought an iPad folding cover with Bluetooth keyboard to the range to shoot at. Case was broken and the keyboard stopped working. Figured I'd let the krew shoot at it and destroy it. After about 10 or 15 hits with a large bore rifle it started to shoot flames out the back and eventually caught on fire. Pics of the case and my frame on fire along with the melted results. The RSO's never saw it until I asked them to call the line so it could be put out.

Guess all those things you read about lithium ion batteries is true...

Shouldn't have done that.  Good thing everything is still green or else the mountainside would've gone up in flames.  Lithium batteries pack a lot of power as you can see which leads to people getting hurt from exploding batteries.

Lithium batts will ignite when the cells are exposed to air. I though there was a rule that you couldnt shoot at items other than paper targets and steel?
Ive had lithium polymers ignite when I dispose of them by opening the case. Used them in my RC vehicles. Lithium ions are more stable but still volatile.
Lucky the range wasn't shut down like the last time someone set off a flare.

Yikes! Glad you folks were able to put it out.

When I saw the title, I thought the hand cannon thing or other black powder gun started a fire in the brush, like you mentioned happening last week.

Yeah, Mitch went out there with a shovel and put dirt over it and my frame. Twice we had to get out the hose and put out a fire from a black powder gun setting the dry brush in front of the benches on fire.

I am much more sophisticated than Hillary. Instead of using Bleach Bit, I prefer to use Bullet Bit.
