I live in town. Less than 2 miles from the capital. My family lives approx 4 miles from the capital. My best friends live in kakaako apartments (the new ones) and in makiki/ keeamoku apartments. Im fucked no matter what. Can we really do anything? If the immediate blast doesnt kill any/ most of us. Theres always radiation. A steel container wont help. Streams/ wildlife will be exposed to it as well.
I actually called out sick that day when the false alarm hit. Woke me up. Then i went back sleep. Several of my friends and family called then i finally woke up for good. Didnt hear the obnoxiously loud sirens so i ate my ramen 😁. Called my work place to see whats up and nada. I work for the governement so i can get inside scoops. My friends and family have their ties with the sheriffs dept., navy, hpd, dnlr, and circuit court. Nada.
I believe i read a forum here or the internet that if a blast happens several hundres feet above the ground then the radiation will spread further across the land. Unless you live HK, kailua, waipahu or further out north, theres really nothing we can do. Radiation lasts for decades, not just a week let alone a couple days. Good luck to everyone though if one day it does happen.
Edit: forgot to mention i heard almost if not all my neighbors starting their cars to maybe flee. I then thought bout that too ...but ....then i REALLY THOUGHT about TRAFFIC!!! fuck that. Ill just maybe die in my house than on the road if it was real lol.
Just my thoughts given where i live and not knowing much people on the other side of the isle. Plus its a hawaii alert, not a honolulu alert. IIRC. For all we know it may have hit kahoolawe or the northern reefs. We dont know haha.
