Chin Lt. Gov. Was it a setup?
« on: February 02, 2018, 10:36:02 AM »
You think it was setup to help his campaign for Congress?

He's already campaigning out the LG position.

“Public service is a privilege. This was not my plan, but it is the order of succession and I am answering a call to serve,” Chin said in a statement early Friday morning. “In 18 years, I have been a prosecutor and the Managing Director for the City and County of Honolulu, and Hawaii Attorney General. Each opportunity has shown me how important and valuable the people of Hawaii are, and how critical it is for our leaders to find solutions and preserve Hawaii’s values.”

If any "[D]" incumbents get re-elected this year, there is some heavy fraud going on in this state...

Curious. Why would you say that?

I dunno either way. But I figured many to most D incumbents will get re-elected.

I see some changes in attitudes and folks getting sick of those currently in office, but don’t see too much draining of the swamp. I hope so, but not holding my breath.

Observing social media and "regular" people's commenting, Hawaii is ripe for a swing.  I am sure some "[D]"'s will get re-elected.  I just have a good feeling many people are going to attempt to swing things a little different this year.

I stated in another thread about the Facebook page Stolen Stuff Hawaii.  There are ~100,000 members on this page.  Most are regular citizens and are really fed up with the bullshit this city and state crams down everyone's throat.   I know many here on 2A are hesitant to use social media, but it cannot be ignored that it is a POWERFUL tool to get a message out, un-spun, to the masses...

If anyone here has a Facebook account, I ask you join, and GENTLY steer people in the right direction when it comes around to election time.  No need to harp on about guns and such.  Just point out the facts of where we are headed, who has brought us to this point, the hypocrisy of the people in charge, and the common sense that has been lost by our current 'Leadership'.

I don't think so. Just an opportunity to good to resist.

Ige is going down in flames behind the false missile alert fiasco and Tsutsui is just getting some distance to save himself, he'll be back.

Chin is just another opportunistic political hack taking advantage of whatever falls his way. Just like another shape shifter  we all know. He'll end his association with Ige at the end of his term with "Experience" and try to use it leverage his way into Congress. The ruling blocking Trump was designed specifically to catapult a peripheral player into the limelight for just this purpose. The LG spot is just icing on the cake.

We're looking more like a banana republic every day.

Roger. I have seen the shift and it’s been a while. People voicing their being fed up with how things are going and tying it to current elected officials. Like you and many here, it’s a welcome shift.

But do they vote?
Our eligible voting numbers are dismal.
Voicing and voting are 2 different things.

P.S. And I agree with you 100% Ed.

This is why I suggested people go to Stolen Stuff Hawaii, join, and GENTLY help the ~100,000 members move in the right direction..............

No idea if they vote. But I’m encouraged to see more than the usual parroting of “same ‘old shit”.

I was having needing and smoking cigars with a buddy and his FIl. My buddy is a bitch bitch bitch about government but doesn’t vote because he feels he can’t change anything. His FIL and I were hammering him on the stupidity of that logic. In the end, you can only try to influence, but you’re not going to change fundamental behavior.

Do I worry about if they vote? I wonder, but I can only try to affect change where I can.

The bigger question is: Who do they have to vote for?

Hard to get people excited about voting when they know Twatwaffle McShitstain is running unnopposed for the sixth time.

The Republicans have nothing but Rino swingers that only care for the Constitution as it applies to their reelection. The Libertarians will undoubtedly run someone odd, like a three legged gay dwarf ( no offense Sterling ).

Without any serious alternatives, the status quo shall remain in power, and we're fooked.

Agree with everything you said.      But I think a strategy is to encourage people to Vote Them out.  Even if you get  a BS candidate, just vote for the non-incumbent!  Unless, of course your district has a pro - 2A person...

At the least, put some pause and reality back into their heads, unless if they are so far gone and nonsensical they can't comprehend that...

Just trying to be optimistic...

I would but I avoid Facebook.
What I was referring to is the memo released by the White House.
Local Dems may be manipulating the elections in their favor without us knowing. Most people here are too busy or just have no appetite for politics. So they dont understand some issues.

I recall Cec Heftel and allegations of smear campaign. That was before I could vote, but I always remembered that and dirty politics.
