I browsed it and it has a lot of good points. One big thing that I noticed is that those that argue pro-2a, their facts are disputed and often written off. Whereas anti-2a can appeal to irrational emotion and often can spew all sorts of crap and have millions parroting it as “fact” the next day. Propaganda and it’s working. Troubling that it’s working on folks that I would normally consider educated.

It's because we don't control the media.  They have the biggest influence on the people, especially those not knowledgeable on the topic.  Example: My dad thinks an AR-15 is not needed. "you don't hunt with an AR-15".  I told him, the 2nd amendment wasn't written for hunting only.  He didn't get it.  He watches the mainstream news all the time, which is what most people do.

Prior to the Florida shooting, he had no problem with my AR.  So I know where he got that "hunting" line from. Maybe I should buy an AK then.

These days people have forgotten the point of persuasion is to actually persuade somebody. Instead of rational coherent arguments and clever appeals to people's better nature, modern debate has morphed into high-pitched squealing with both sides calling each other terrorists, Hitler, source of all evil, etc.

Local organizing is only possible if the group has a good reputation. If a significant amount of people think we are assholes and we do our best prove them right then go ahead and consider that baby strangled in the crib. 

Now is a golden opportunity to outshine the opposition. People aren't completely stupid. They generally know when someone is pulling their leg, but if they think going along with a lie will benefit them somehow and a strong emotional trigger turns them off to viable alternatives then of course they won't act rationally.

The unavoidable point is that our current gun culture is all about defense, circling the wagons, etc while the antis are using Colour Revolution tactics to make a bigger tent.

2a forums are plagued with racism, homophobia, anti-muslim hate speech, worship of the police state/military interventionism, climate change denial, anti abortion rants, pro-corporate-welfare propaganda, and if someone has a different opinion then they get shouted down and encircled for a group attack.

Not everyone gets the armed revolution thing. It takes some explaining, but put in the proper context it makes perfect sense. I get it because I lean more towards Socialism (not the Sunday school Bernie Sanders version). That means on this one issue we are natural allies, so I'm willing to overlook some of our other differences in order to achieve a common goal.

Either we grow the tent or 2a is dead.

I’ve been wondering why the mass shooters aren’t using an AK instead of an AR. The AK is more reliable but less accurate at long distances IMO. If the AR is restricted, then we might see more AKs used because fuck em, that’s why.

Well said.

Even in our own forum, instead of maintaining a strong bond among all of the members, by entertaining differing points of view, the attacks by the thought police composed by the loudest ultra-right fanatical group-thinkers ruins all attempts of solidarity.  The fact that many old-school members no longer post on our forum is indicative of this.

I am not sure that the entire democratic party is united against the Second Amendment, but definitely a majority of its leadership.  However, it is incorrect to say all democrat party members are anti-gun.

Semantics, but the GOP should be proactive, not offensive, particularly to the general population.


This is for all things the GOP stands for, not only the 2a.  They will lose their votes if they don't step it up.  How many anti-GOP stuff have you seen vs. anti-democrat things.

The fact that the GOP is not stepping up in promoting its party platform is very telling about the GOP leadership themselves.  Many appear that they are more concerned about their own power and money rather spending the majority of their time on party priorites.

I was thinking that the best counter to all this anti gun this and crap is to bring person who has never handled a firearm before to the range. Start them off with a safety class away from the range. Their first shooting experience should be fun. DOn't get them started on the biggest caliber you got. Shoot at something with feedback - the ringing of steel is very satisfying.

A media campaign #IAmTheNRA to show them that WE did not commite murders. We are the people next door to you. We are NOT the enemy.
