Hawaii legislators and law enforcement will use this as an example of how they are serving the public by preventing people from being fired for having CCW licenses... by not granting any. Public servants at their best, looking out for our welfare!

The law does allow us to have a firearm in the business as long as we get permission from the business first.

Yeah, but how are you going to get it to the business in your enclosed container (unloaded of course)? Unless that business is one of the ones that are on list of approved locations to which you may transport your firearm (range, gunsmith, FFL, gunshow, police department)... Otherwise you have to break the law to exercise your privilege they've granted you. See what they did there?

Really?

https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol03_Ch0121-0200D/HRS0134/HRS_0134-0023.htm

"...all firearms shall be confined to the possessor's place of business, residence, or sojourn; provided that it shall be lawful to carry unloaded firearms in an enclosed container from the place of purchase to the purchaser's place of business, residence, or sojourn, or between these places upon change of place of business, residence, or sojourn, or between these places.."

If I'm reading that wrong, I guess I'm going to jail soon as I'm going to admit right now that I carry daily at work and do not store the firearm at work.

^^^ I was thinking that also, just while in transit, it does  have to be in an enclosed container.  Once at your business, you can carry in any means.

I'd really, REALLY, R-E-A-L-L-Y like to not have to unload and case it going to and fro, and just keep it on my hip like a normal human being.

I don't blame puna for overestimating the ineptitude of our lawmakers.   :)

In real life, introducing additional handling steps with the firearm is going to undoubtedly increase the likelihood of an accident by simple virtue of you touching the gun more often (especially since you need to unchamber that round).

So what if your place of business is a vehicle? Building inspector, mobile repair guy, mobile notary public, handyman... Lots of folks work out of their vehicles. Or better yet, live in their vehicle. It is their place of residence and sojurn.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy.

If it were me, I'd still carry if I stayed in the same place for at least a few hours.  Inspector, notary, or other things that are quick in-n-out (mmm burgers) would introduce the same problems of having to uncase-chamber-holster-unchamber-case and you'd have to have a safe place to do so.  If you don't - you're breaking the law (one man's opinion and not legal advice  :D).

I can't be the only guy with a clearing bucket of sand under his desk .

Instead of a bucket, just fill up a large cat liter box.  Cuts down on the suspicious questions.

No. You misspoke/wrote. You do not violate any laws, especially firearms laws. You stand corrected.

So what if your place of business is a vehicle? Building inspector, mobile repair guy, mobile notary public, handyman... Lots of folks work out of their vehicles. Or better yet, live in their vehicle. It is their place of residence and sojurn.
Come on, you guys think "they" wrote those laws without the clear knowledge of exactly what acts would be criminal and for which they could arrest, prosecute, convict, fine and/or imprison violators? You really think they are going to interpret their intentionally draconian infringing laws in a manner that cuts slack to homeless people living in vehicles? You are engaging in criminal acts when you do anything other than exactly what is prescribed as "legal" in the laws as written. "If you don't like it, change it." Yeah, sure. In the meantime they will enforce their laws as arbitrarily and capriciously as they please. You just gotta hope you aren't the "example" they make of someone who is following one part of the law but required to break another part of the law in order to do so.

It's like in California there is an exception to the "no carry without a license" (and most of the highly populated coastal counties deny virtually all applicants) in the case of "imminent danger of grievous bodily injury or death". The only problem being that you can't legally have your firearm with you (outside your home) at any time prior to THAT EXACT MOMENT.  Thus the "magically appearing firearm" has been made law in California.

Plausible.  No actual cats required.   :geekdanc:

Myth Busters did a special on bullets and water.  Even with a 50 cal, it only traveled 3 feet when shot into water.  30-06 was like < 2 feet.

So have a jug of water and say the waters for emergencies.

I was going to leave a mini safe in my desk drawer for when I leave to get lunch which is every day.  This way, I don't have to unchamber as often.  But the president of the company said no guns.  So no matter.

Went to the dentist on Tuesday and felt very vulnerable while she's cleaning my teeth....
