I haven't been to Koko Head for ages.  Is there an area where I can put buckshot on paper at close ranges? 

Plus...the range in Wailua in closed right?...have not been able to find info on it anymore. 

I believe you can basically shoot shotguns on the rifle range to function test.  Plus, you wouldn't want to try buckshot too far as to riddle your neighbor's frame. 

I've seen people put up their own target stands with stakes between the benches and the 50 yard row, but  they were mostly using them for centerfire rifles.  I am not sure about the rules for how close you can set up a target stand on the rifle range either, but I would think they wouldn't let you put one up closer than the edge of that initial slope down from the benches. 

The trap range will let you set up a target frame for patterning.  However, nothing larger than 7 1/2 shot is allowed there, so that doesn't help.

I've seen them set up a patterning board at the silhouette side, but I think that was for members only.

You can do it in the action bays, assuming whoever has it for the day will let you.  You could do it at an HRA fun shoot, for example.

You can shoot slugs at targets or buck/bird shot over the berm for function testing.

yah slugs for target shooting... when it's empty or no targets around yours at 50 around you can shoot buck or birdshot.... 50 yards 8 shot barely breaks the paper.... they should have a closer target section for shotguns.... like 25 yards would be nice....

I've seen people set up their own targets in front of the 50 yard line.  Not sure what the minimum distance is, but I would guess around 25 yards.  Most bring some sort of metal stake or wooden post and pound it into the ground for their stand. 

Alright to shoot slugs on rifle side.... I always ask an RO first...

When shooting buckshot, I was always told to shoot above the berm...

I always shoot slugs there, never asked the RO's. There are two 25yd holes on the far right side, good luck getting them...It would be nice if they had a 10yd area...Shooting the backdrop is not that exciting.

On the far right side of the range there used to be a handful of 25 yard target holes in the ground where they don't always cut the grass so good.  But good luck getting the to open that side.   But 50 yards with slug shouldn't be too bad.  Even buck shot at that range should spread too much.  There is a skeet club that meets on weekends on the other side but I don't know their rules.

The skeet and trap clubs allow 7 1/2  shot max. No slugs or buckshot allowed.  American skeet and trap rules apply.only 2 rounds allowed to be loaded at a time for skeet. One at a time for trap.
