I removed the FB app from my phone (Android) years ago. Not only was it killing my battery, but it also boosted the signal to keep connected to the FB servers, which almost burned a hole in my leg from the phone's heat. That's all on top of the privacy issues.
I found a recliner on a FB For Sale page, but the seller didn't want to give me her number. She said the Messenger app has worked for her selling other items and saw no reason to change.
Messenger is another app I refuse to use. But, if I wanted to be able to contact her when I arrived at her gated condo, I had little choice.
As soon as I installed Messenger, it went onto FB and contacted every one of my FB friends to notify them I was online (i got all kinds of welcomes from the ones who wanted to be cordial). It infiltrated my phone's contacts, tried to sync them with FB and Messenger, and all kinds of other "useful" and automated setup features.
I completely removed that monstrosity when I returned home.
I'm now about 75% decided I want to delete my FB account, but I'm finding things there that I can use. Their profile sharing policies, though, are starting to tip the scale against them.
