Shot the rfile for the 2nd time at 100.  Got 4/5 hits on the 6 inch gong with RDS. Irons 1/5.  Gotta work on irons more.

Shooting standing?  Or from bench with rifle supported?

From bench with that plastic thingy under the hand guard.

Tried also standing unsupported/no sling  and it sucked.  Fricken red dot bouncing all over the place, had to time it.  Got 1/5.

It's all repetitive practice to get it down.  Dryfire practice works for this.

By "plastic thingy", you mean the rest?  Also pay attention to supporting the stock on/in your shoulder pocket when shooting supported on a bench.  The difference between dot and irons shouldn't be that dramatic though.

When you were shooting standing, were you paying attention to your breath control?

Natural point of aim is key.  Sight on target, close eyes, take a breath, open eyes, should still be on target.  If not adjust your stance, try again.  Should be this way either supported or unsupported

Natural point of aim is something that I think many people either aren't aware of or don't give it much thought after an initial exposure to it.

Who's shooting this weekend?

Going to try to make it to the range Fri afternoon and maybe again on Sun.  Mostly want to work on handgun.  May break out the AK as well.  Haven't shot that in a long time.

I think you should definitely go to the rifle range on Friday so I can use your target to zero my rifle ;-)
"The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

Springs for your carbine?  What did you swap out?

None of my carbines have round counts that high, but have a couple of handguns that I should replace action springs already and some approaching the rounds counts that I should.

Taking the hdf carbine skill builder.

Hopefully you iron out your sling issues.  Mrs. CMO shooting as well?

although HP is used as the vehicle for explanation AMU shooter Dan Lowe explains and demonstrates NPA. The process applies to all shooting forms.
Just wanted to clarify the stance is geared towards target shooting, not combat but the process is the same except in combat you'd have to do it much quicker if you can remember all that. Practice to instinct.

Striker spring on my Glock 17 because trigger reset was weak.

Reduced power striker spring and trigger spring on Glock 19 because I felt like messing with it. Trigger break is nice and crisp now, but I have to make sure it goes bang with different ammo/primers.

Gotcha.  Yeah, testing when you swap out the striker spring is key.  I recently picked up a "Gucci" Glock and was getting the occasional misfire.  Maybe 1 every 100.  Saw primer strike and most (if not all) fired when loaded up a second time.  It's back at the mfr getting checked out.  I had expected them to tell me to try changing out the striker spring, but they asked me to send the gun back for inspection.

I don't experiment with the Glock springs, but I have seen the lighter striker springs lead to some problems.  Usually on competition guns.

I'm gearing up to shoot 1911 more on random range days, but some mags that I ordered from Wilson are taking forever to get here.   :grrr:

That vid helps, and IIRC, I've seen Lee Ermey shooting the same stance.  When I was doing it, I was squared toward the target.  Like how I engage a 20 yard target,
