If it became legal in Hawaii?  After looking at the specs, I wouldn't.  1.  Range too short, recommended range is between 5-15 ft.  2.  Only one shot in the version that can be readily concealed.

I would rather be able to legally carry a JPX Jet Protector with 23 ft range or longer if you want a misting effect on multiple attavkers instead of a concentrated hit on a single petson.  2 shots on standard model and 4 on the little bigger one, which is still smaller than the 2 shot Taser. 

Of all the legal things we can carry (since no one on this forum does anything illegal), I would.  Because #1 it gives me another option for a tool. #2 I can.

I've seen it used on a belligerent perp in a Vegas Walgreens and it did nothing, maybe because they hit his leather jacket. The perp looked at them like he couldn't believe they would try to taze him. A stun gun would be more effective (right London?). We talked about it at length at the Brewseum last night (in between trivia questions).

They make dual-use tasers, with the probes and the contacts.  If I decide to buy one, I'd opt for one like this.

There are advantages and disadvantages to spray and tasers and you should get training for either.

OC spray
+ cheap
+ easy to use
+ can be used multiple times
+ can disable an attacker for a long period of time
- some people are naturally immune
- people in drugs, mentally disorders, or enraged can be immune
- sprayer and other innocents can be affected
- may not be able to use it in windy and confined areas
- can be easily blocked
- only effective on the face

Tasers
+ very effective with a good hit
+ can be used in situations and areas where spray doesn't work
+ controllable
- expensive
- one shot
- doesn't work against thick clothing
- must be at the right distance to use
- difficult to hit the target
- can be blocked by objects
- getting training to use a taser is more important than spray.

Best thing to do is get either, and learn hand to hand defense as a backup.

Just a quick aside on this question: Know that all of you are talking about using whatever kind of "electronic gun" (or propelled OC delivery system) inside your home or business, because even if Hawaii's ban on possession is ruled unconstitutional with X days for the legislature to change the ban law, you can bet the farm that no one will be allowed to carry these arms outside the home/business as they will require a CCW license and no one will be getting one of those. I'm just sayin'... 

If I could get a decent one at a good price, sure. But then again, I’d be afraid friends of mine would end up getting each other to try it on them.   

I’ve seen one of my good friends get tasered as part of his training for the US Marshals. Imagine a 5’8” guy of “bowling ball” proportions running and then all of a sudden just drop. Well, almost a roll. 

I shot my JPX using cartridges that had an expiration date 6 months earlier at cardboard I set up 20 ft away to check coverage.  There was mild cross breeze of maybe 10 to 15 mph.  The gel splatter was about 18 inches in diameter.  JPX recommends aiming for tbe chest.  The force of the gel traveling at 400 mph can easily blind someone if you hit them in the face at 5 ft or less. That happened to a woman who was shot in the face by police at about 3 ft.  It also makes a good impact weapon, like pistol whipping someone.  It is solidly built of metal and polymer.

I used to carry it around until I realized that under Hawaii law, it is considered a firearm, even tho the ATF said it is not.  So now it just sits in the house.

However, it's not classified as a weapon unless it accepts standard ammunition as well as flares.  Some flare guns can use adapters to fire shot shells and will be classified an AOW by the ATF.  Absent any such adapters, it's not a weapon.

A stun gun is mostly a pain device. The taser is so effective because it spreads the connection over a larger portion of the body and the shock immobilizes muscles.

A lot of people, including myself, confuse tasers with stun guns, so I’ll answer both.

The best taser will fire its leads at high speed, and have long barbs. Most taser failures happen because the leads get entangled in the target’s clothing, and these features help minimize that. That being said, taser failures will still occur.

As David says, people conflate “Taser” (a specific product from Taser International” and “stun gun”, a generic item produced by dozens of manufacturers in various degrees of quality.

There is only one Taser model available to civilians, the Taser Pulse which is 400.00. It’s not legal everywhere.

Tasers are a one-shot item and there are many failures. We police use them only when we have backup available.

best tasers 2018 are, in the opinion of most, essentially useless. They are a “pain-compliance” device. They hurt while they are in contact with the person. They do NOT induce unconsciousness or knock people to the ground. If the person is drunk or on drugs, it may just make them mad.

I agree that stun guns are overrated and aren't as effected as portrayed in the movies.  Handguns are much more effective.  Unfortunately we don't have CCW here so we have to settle for stun guns if they are legalized.
