Defense scenario practice
« on: June 03, 2018, 08:32:38 AM »
Checking if there is interest in a defensive scenario practice session.  Run through scenarios for things like robberies, active shooter, and other scenarios with a blue gun or maybe airsoft.  It would be informal with self and peer review and not instructor led.  It's a group practice and not a class.

Goal is for you to determine how you would react in a stressful situation and if you are prepared to use a gun in defense situations.

No one is coming, it’s up to us.

Legislation should never be about depriving law abiding citizens of something, but rather taking those things away from criminals.

Serious questions zippz: Why no instructor? I understand this is a practice and not a class, but an instructor is a 3rd party observer that can provide objective feedback on student performance and hopefully share their experience with a class or students.  If we attend are we expected to have all the necessary training equipment and bring it with us like strike helmets, gloves, blue knives, airsoft, etc or will that be included?  Estimated cost?

Civil liability.  Not worth taking the liability in offering a free class.  Purpose is to see if you're prepared for different and unexpected scenarios and if you should you  seek out class instruction.  Maybe its something I can offer at a later time.  Just testing the waters for now.

I got the practice pistols and airsoft guns.  Use a laundry marker for knives.  I just dont have the face masks so id have to borrow or get cheapo used ones

I’d be down. I’d have to invest in some airsoft gear though. Or borrow from my two buddies kids. They have lots!

We tried getting something like this going with an SRGC group. The land on which to do it ended up being one of the pitfalls.

Anyone know a manager at one of those storage places? That would be a fun place to try. Mostly kidding as I doubt it would happen, but I can see that being a good facility for something like this.

Also I know majority of people never had tactics and scenario training so that's okay, mistakes are a learning point and just do your best.  Those are the people that should do this.

I would be up for it, depending if I’m available for the date and time.
I think, therefore I am armed.

Are we firm on the airsoft route due to the hosting location? Or is Simunitions an option? Found some cheap  uppers here https://www.recoilgunworks.com/trade-simunition-ar15-upper-conversion-p-45660.html

Its the ammo cost and availability in Hawaii that deters simunitions and other sim weapons.

Sorry had to push this back, maybe next month due to my work schedule.

No need to buy anything and I have the training pistols.  Airsoft and SIRT pistols are a lot cheaper and safer than using simunitions.  It's difficult to bring in simunition ammo since it follows the same requirements as regular ammo like hazmat fees and shipping costs.  If this becomes a regular thing or a formal class, then I might consider investing the $1,000 for the equipment and pickup simunition ammo on my mainland travels.

We're not going to be shooting a whole lot either.  A few shots at most for a scenario.  There's also going to be no shoot scenarios.
