Accurate duty pistol suggestions...p320?
« on: June 09, 2018, 12:28:15 PM »
Seeking suggestions for an accurate duty pistol for a competition.  DAO.  I need to make accurate hits up to 50 yards better than my Glock.

Currently looking at the Sig P320RX which felt good to shoot with a better trigger and grip than the Glock and has military/LE discounts.  I'd take the RMR off for competition but use it to teach classes.

VP9 was also good to shoot.  Any other recs?

I vote for the P320. I shoot better with it than my Glocks. Just have to practice a lot with that trigger. There is almost zero take-up. Reminds me of a revolver with the hammer back -- just have to move the trigger a little to fire.

Hard to find anything bad about this model. Customizable size and caliber, lightweight, comfortable, and accurate.  And for a Sig, the price is attractive, too.

I want to give the P320 X5 a try for competition.  It’s a little pricey though. I haven’t shot it much, but the ones that I did were really nice and accurate.

I have a G34 and a PPQ 5” for competition, so harder to me to justify buying a P320 though.

Max barrel length is 5" and no competition models.  So g34 and xfive is out.  I heard good things about ppq but haven't fired one.

Edit...Maybe I should look into getting a competition gun to compete in that category.

I 2nd the p10c. I got if u wanna try open shoot.

I like feel and recoil management of the p10 better than my vp9.

Im not a fan of owning 2 of the same guns, but i might buy a 2nd. 1 for me, 1 for the wife. I want my own p10.

EAA has some CZ "clones" that are cheaper.

My daughter concealed-carries an EAA Witness Pavona.  Polymer 9mm -- lightweight, easier to rack the slide for women/anyone with less-than-average hand strength, 13 rd capacity, cool colors .

Pro's and Con's of my P10C:

Pro's:
Price
Mag price (vs. HK mags)
Truly ambi, no need switch stuff around or buy additional parts
Grip is awesome
Feels good (as in just feels right in my hand and when aiming)
It's not a Glock

Con's:
Stiff parts, I spend 2 days ejecting mags to loosen the mag release.  Did it while watching TV.  I power stroke, so stiff slide release doesn't bother me.
Earlier models had issues, any with serial number CZ350XXX and higher is good to go
Grip, many feel it's to harsh
Some report trigger finger rubs, so a HBI trigger reduces the rubbing of the trigger finger on the trigger guard.  No issues for me or the Mrs.
