All those guns locked up in one place, just like the anti-gunners hoped.  Hopefully the couple kept a few concealed in other spots so they won't be unarmed should the crooks return.

Any size dog would have helped. The noise might have given the owners time to wake up and defend their property.

Now there are going to be 10 more guns on the black market. Registration, training and other common sense gun laws no longer apply.

Sounds like he had no gun in reach. Like those states that want to pass the law where all guns must be locked at all times.

I doubt whether a gun on the nightstand would have helped at all.

I'll be Capt Obvious here and say that sounds like the house was targeted for their guns.  While I don't necessarily hide the fact that I own guns, I don't advertise it either.  I'm not saying folks should have to hide that they are gun owners, far from it.  But many times I wonder about some of my neighbors (at least those that I don't know well) knowing too much about stuff, particularly my gun ownership.

I agree on all points.  My dogs are my alert alarms.  They know when someone is at the gate, 125 ft from the house.

The report didn't mention other valuables being taken.  They could have missed that part, but if not, seems like they went straight for the "goodies" for sure.

I've been having a number of estimators come over to my place for a variety of work recently.  I have tried to be careful on not having the safe or other stuff exposed.  Folks are observant.  A while back, a contractor came over and we were chatting after he looked at what he needed to look at.  Then he was like "where do you train at?".  I was like, "whut".  He then pointed to the boxing and MMA gloves that I had hanging in a door way to air them out.  I mean minor, but there are folks that are definitely observant like that.  Turns out the guy used to train at the same place, so was a good connection.

My neighbors all know I own guns,mainly because when I’m home 9 times out of 10 im carrying one. I carry on my belt so sometimes my shirt covers it, other times not so much. A few have made comments to my wife but not to me.
