My friend and I have tried many of times to get a rimfire thing going. Would anyone be interested in having a get together to talk, combine resources, and discuss options to see if we can put something together? If not, I really am tired of guys saying "I'm in" and nobody shows up to shoot.
I have run into the same problem. Unfortunately, now I am not in a position to volunteer any more.  :(

Me too.  I used to try to get things together, like shooting courses as well as med courses with known/popular trainers.  Lots of interest, but then when it came down to making reservations and putting money down, things always come up.  Yeah, I understand that things always come up in life, but so many are all talk.  Or at least mostly talk.  So I have largely given up on stuff like that.  Thankfully, there are those that organize and run courses locally now and seem to have a solid group that regularly attends, so I will try to help that group grow.

In any case, I'm always down to shoot.  I'm particularly interested in a match like this, but I just need a loaner .22 lr to shoot.   :shaka:

I've planned a lot of projects and events shooting and non-shooting related.  I figured out this general rule when planning for an event with random people....

Half of the people who say they'll signup will signup.
Half of those will attend.
90% who say they might go, won't go.

Thing that increase this percentage is make them prepay at least a portion or ask for names and phone numbers, then follow up with a call.

In the past, I'd do the no show thing sometimes.  Then I realized that people work really hard to put things together to help others and being a no show was a selfish act.  Nowadays I do my best and make it a priority to attend things I say I will.  Life still gets in the way once in a while so I try to cancel as soon as I can and explain things, then try and helpout in some way if I can.

I think the problem is nowadays the mentality is people are distant from eachother socially and there is no shame in missing stuff like this.  If the no shows worked hard and led an event where no one showed, they would get a life lesson and their whole attitude would change.  That's one of the reason I really encourage people try and lead events.

My observations is that most gunowners are more collectors than shooters.
When trying to get people out to shoot at the gunshows most tell me what they have and hesitate about venturing out into an open, uncovered range to shoot. Most people I encounter would like to shoot a few rounds at x distance and thats it. I remember a guy with his no sight M4. All he wanted was a selfie at 200 yards. He didnt help setup or tear down.

Ren, i hear you. I hear so many people complain about how restrictive it is to shoot at KHSC (distance, rate of fire, no holster draw, etc...). I give them the information and options to shoot other venues and all I hear are excuses. I give up.
