NRA president Wayne LaPierre pictured with Russian "spy"
« on: July 19, 2018, 09:22:56 PM »
A friend on facebook posted a picture of Wayne LaPierre standing with a lady just arrested for failure to register as a foreign agent. Him being a fairly liberal seemed quite pleased of the implications of the NRA connection to a Russian spy. I figure the photo doesn't prove much at all so I looked into it apparently it wasn't just a chance photo op.

I didn't see this posted here yet but it is directly firearm related so I think we gotta be aware of the development and address it.
It is alleged that she tried to create backdoor communications with politicians to influence them. She also apparently is the president of a Russian gun rights organization so this could put her in touch with the NRA on purely gun related issues but the optics don't look great for us.

Edited to correct the charges.

She's not a s spy.  She was not arrested for "spy related charges."

Get your facts straight, or is that too much to ask?

"Maria Butina has been charged by federal prosecutors with failing to register as an agent of a foreign power."

Agent of a foreign power is NOT a spy.  Anyone representing the government of a foreign nation is an agent and must register with the Department of Justice.

One out of 3 occurences.

And you said "spy related charges."  False.

Try again.

Even if she was a Russian spy so what. I don't see how that relates to firearms. If anything that might somehow just help us buy more Russian firearms or something.

Gotta think 4D.

Russian "spy" in picture with Wayne.
Wayne is NRA president.
NRA supports Trump
Trump had help from Russia

Donald Jr. had a funny caption to an IG pic he posted around Xmas at a Xmas party.  The quotes were something like "I was invited to take this picture.  I may or may not know all the people in this photo.  I take many pictures when requested to do so."

NRA president is Lt. Col Oliver North.
Wayne is Executive VP.

If you want to "shade" the NRA at least get it right!

P.S. I trust Russians more than I do Oahu Democrats.

You are right, I missed quotation marks on the others. And you are also right, the charge was not espionage, I am in agreement with you.

Understand though that many news headlines and articles are using the word spy so how about we don't jump on peoples backs. A simple correction of the charges she faces is all that is needed.

How about you do your own research for once instead of relying on us to correct you? It's all out there, or else we wouldn't know any more than you,

If I jump on your back, it's because you make SO MANY fictitious comments, and then want to argue about tiny nuances to avoid being held accountable.

I will offer an "attaboy" for you admitting you created a post that was completely wrong and then blamed it on the press for misleading you ....

oh ... wait .... Never mind.

Maybe start looking for opposing viewpoints before posting so you know the facts.  I know I always do.  Posting something that supports your anti-Trump attitudes without checking on it is how fake news gets spread.  Stop being part of the problem.

I don't rely on you and I did my own research, I read the article I posted. No one is putting the burden on you, I. Developing news stories people get stuff wrong sometimes. Guess what I did really multiple news articles, that's why I pointed out to you many used the word spy. Plus she works for a Russian spy agency and tried to covertly influence American politics, that falls into some people's definition of the word spy.

How about this, when someone is wrong correct them and don't be a dick about it. Saying that she was arrested for spy related charges instead of not registering a foreign agent is not a huge mistake you need to create a scene about. I don't rub it in your face when you are wrong, how about you return the favor.

If you could admit your mistakes and express appreciation for being corrected more often, maybe it wouldn't get so frustrating for everyone. Instead, you argue about tangents and minor syntactical and verbiage usages to pretend you were not really wrong.

You posted a bad story with errors. I called it to your attention. You argued it was the fault of the people writing the stories you read, even though I was obviously able to find a more honest report (I guess your Googler never worked right). Now you're saying the term "spy" was accurate based AGAIN on the bad reports you read saying she sought to "influence American politics", in an attempt to backtrack and say the "spy" was really a spy.

Rather than tell me not to be a dick, look in a mirror. No one would be a dick toward you if you didn't constantly repeat the same dishonest anti-Trump, anti-Conservative BS.  I'm 100% sure this is intentional. TROLL.

I am saying that the argument could be made that she was a spy. That's why it is not worth getting in a pissing match about whether she was a spy. Hence the quotation marks! Some people look at the facts and call her a spy, others say not. I tried to just avoid that pointless argument.

Yes you are right that she wasn't arrested for spy related charges, I already admitted you were right there, but no, you could let it drop there.

Don't blame your being a dick on me, control your own actions. Yes I make anti Trump comments but they are not dishonest. I complain about actual things he does. And don't try to label me as anti conservative just because I criticize Trump, that is just intellectually dishonest.

Nope. You didn't do any "research". You read some articles, posted about them and that's it.

research:  : studious inquiry or examination; especially : investigation or experimentation aimed at the discovery and interpretation of facts, revision of accepted theories or laws in the light of new facts, or practical application of such new or revised theories or laws

Anybody who has written a thesis for college got a rude awakening when the prof corrects students on the term "research"
We tend to use the word research as much as we do "like"
