Takedown 10/22
« on: April 13, 2012, 03:57:04 PM »
Happy Friday the 13th!  Just walked into a LGS and bought a Ruger 10/22 takedown rifle.  They only got two in from their distributor and one was spoken for already.  I'll post pics later--probably be at the range on Sunday to try it out.

Security Equipment.  $332 (just under $350 with tax).  I almost didn't buy it because I buy used guns, but it would be years before a used takedown 10/22 became available and I wanted one.  Now I can play with it every time "Doomsday Preppers" is on TV!  The problem is I'll probably wear it out from assembling/disassembling.

The guys at SEC figure it'll be 6-8 months before they see another shipment, but who knows?  The 2 rifles they received caught them by surprise.

The nylon case has a lot of MOLLE attachments and it looks like it can easily hold a dozen magazines and a couple of bricks of ammo--perfect for the SHTF bag.  Flashlight, spare batteries, space blankie, paracord, firestarter will all fit and you're good to go!  The bag has another compartment that looks like it would hold a spare barrel--hmmmm, I gotta read the manual and see if Ruger will offer spares (I wouldn't hold my breath!).

nice, let us know how it works out.

I don't see why anyone in the market for a 10/22 wouldn't get this one unless there was some kinda problem at the take down point.

Wow--just checked GunBroker and takedown 10/22s are selling for $300 (bidding, auction not over yet) to $369 (buy it now price).  Factor in UPS 2nd day Air and FFL transfer, you're looking at way over $400!   Glad I didn't pass on it--I'd be kicking myself!

I was looking at that rifle the other day but purchased an older used stainless 10/22 instead.  I have a fondness for older rifles with nice real wood stocks, plus it matches the one I just bought from Pit808.  ;D

I want that case.

It's made in China.  Ruger guns may be 100% American Made but the accessories aren't.

Hey Dex, put me down for one of yours--I have a feeling this one won't be with me for long.  Thanks!  JC

That's a travesty, you shouldn't even keep it.

I'll give you 20 bucks for it.

You'll be doing the patriotic thing by dumping that communist china case.
