For those who are interested, here is a visual comparison of the Weaver-style stock rail that comes with the Ruger 10/22 TD, and the Weaver-style Leupold Rifleman 1 Piece Base for Ruger 10/22s.

I did not affix either rail to the receiver; I simply placed both rails on the receiver and took these pictures to give people an idea of what to expect when using the stock rail versus aftermarket base on the 10/22 TD.

The Leupold 1 Piece Base is slightly longer than the stock rail, so you may notice a slight space between the receiver and the base, at the rear-most portion of the Leupold 1 Piece Base, where the downward curvature of the top of the receiver begins.    Not sure whether the gap will disappear when I actually affix the base to the receiver.

UTG puts out a Picatinny-style low-profile rail (with a channel that runs down the center of the rail) that allows you to utilize iron sights with the rail affixed to the receiver. (Thanks for the info, Dex!)

I affixed the Leupold Rifleman 1 Piece Base to the 10/22 TD receiver.

Even after tightening the hardware, the slight space (see previous post) at the rear of the base is apparent.

I mounted a Leupold VX-1 Rimfire 2-7x28mm Rifle Scope, using 1" Leupold Rifleman Detachable Low Rings.



Using the 1" Leupold Rifleman Detachable Low Rings, the VX-1's objective bell prevents the flip-up sights from being fully deployed (not a big deal, as I won't be using the irons, anyway).



The Low Rings provide a comfortable cheekweld.

Using the Low Rings to mount the Leupold VX-1 Rimfire 2-7x28mm Rifle Scope does not hamper disassembly.

Also, I have found that using the Low RIngs to mount the Leupold VX-1 allows me to place the receiver sub-assembly (with scope mounted) into the Ruger-supplied carrying case, and zip the case up, without issue.
