The ‘tech millionaire’ behind the socialist: Chief of staff who boosted AOC made riches in Silicon Valley

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has taken Congress by storm, quickly becoming the de facto leader of the left-wing bloc of freshman Democrats seeking to overhaul the status quo with far-left ideas like the Green New Deal.

But behind the most influential democratic socialist in the country (sorry, Bernie) is an aide whose story is very different from the bartender background of Bronx-born Ocasio-Cortez.

Meet Saikat Chakrabarti. At 33, he came to Washington a wealthy tech entrepreneur, and now serves as the congresswoman’s chief of staff – or as he quips in his Twitter bio, “CoS to @AOC.”

The aide for months flew under the radar, but hit the headlines amid fresh accusations of possible campaign finance violations in a conservative watchdog group's FEC complaint. Far from an in-the-trenches organizer by trade, Chakrabarti was a Harvard-educated computer engineer and went on to make his riches in a number of startups in Silicon Valley, before eventually turning his attention to promoting the new wave of democratic socialists.

She's made herself a target from many groups.  Eventually, things are going to come out.  I haven't really read that far into this and from what little I read, seems like "so what".  But I do wonder what is there that even her supporters weren't aware of.

She's made herself a target from many groups.  Eventually, things are going to come out.  I haven't really read that far into this and from what little I read, seems like "so what".  But I do wonder what is there that even her supporters weren't aware of.

Based on articles I've read, she and her COS CONTROLLED the SuperPAC that donated to her campaign and many others'.  She's the only one who won their race.

FEC laws require candidates and PACs cannot coordinate -- ever. It's naive to think they don't, but it's hard to prove.  In this case, she had a controlling interest in the Super-PAC which then funneled over $1M to LLCs run by her COS with zero transparency into what that money was spent on.

Either this was a mechanism to scam donors by not spending the money on the things they thought they donated toward, or the money is going into another recipient's pocket, and she is trying to conceal the payments.

I'm waiting for the media to jump on this with the same fervor they did when claiming payments to Stormy were "in-kind campaign contributions."

 

Moderate Dems fume over Ocasio-Cortez ‘list’ threat

Moderate Democrats are fuming over New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s closed-door warning last week that Democrats who vote with Republicans are "putting themselves on a list" – a comment interpreted as a primary challenge threat.

Ocasio-Cortez has since downplayed her comments, made in the wake of 26 Democrats joining Republicans to vote for a provision requiring Immigration and Customs Enforcement to be notified if illegal immigrants attempt to purchase guns.

Still, some House Democrats aren’t happy with her talk of a “list.”

So easy to toss grenades at someone's character who can't respond.  On what facts and examples do you base your conclusion?

AOC: Why isn't the bank responsible if the oil pipeline has a spill and help with cleaning it up
Bank Chair: We are not involved with the daily operations of a business, just funding it.

Let's sue the bank if a drunk driver kills someone and they used a loan to buy the car.  While at it, might as well sue the car maker also (like suing a gun company).  Oh hell, might as well sue the persons parents for giving birth to them.
