She'll be on '60 Minutes' tomorrow night.  I'm sure they've scripted the piece to make her look good.

I don't know what program it was but I heard an audio clip on the radio of her explaining a progressive taxation system, specifically how the high tax rates on large incomes work. Agree or disagree with it I have to admit she actually explained it rather well for the average individual. Usually she sounds kinda clueless but here she had her ducks in order.

Ocasio-Cortez attacks fact-checkers for 'false equivalency,' 'bias'

Quote
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lashed out at fact-checkers just days after taking office, accusing them of “false equivalency” and “bias” toward her in their columns examining her statements.

Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has been called out by fact-checkers at a steady clip since her upset primary win last year over then-Rep. Joe Crowley. She's apparently had enough. On Monday, she took aim at PolitiFact and The Washington Post fact-check unit for supposedly singling her out.

Aren't those two at least left leaning?

Yeah, it appears that she backed off to that her issue was that she appeared to be fact checked just as often as SS and/or the WH.  But if you have your shit together, shouldn't be an issue, right?

I give her credit that she at least has an idea, it's a bad one, but its an idea.  More than any other DNC has proposed.

Funny how the fake news is sayiing conservatives are blasting her dancing.  I follow many conservative meme sites and not 1 made fun of her dancing.  They do make fun of her like-isms.  "We must do away with the electoral college.  I would never send my kids there" type of meme's.

Fake news trying to instigate again.

So AOC said illegals coming over are more American than Americans.  * Facepalm

And she had a tweet that some fed employee from HUD came into her office yesterday and said that he's not getting a check and to keep fighting the wall. "3 weeks without a paycheck".

Others responded that HUD still gets their checks as of Friday and gov has been shut down for 2 weeks not 3.  Also her story doesn't match their pay schedule.  I cannot confirm the fed HUD pay schedule.

HUD is standard Fed GS schedule, but need to apply locality in some areas.

Only thing I hard from my libertarian leaning news outlet reported that a lot of people liked it and it was cute. Haven't heard anyone bash it.

I think it is dumb but I also don't like dancing at all so....

I have an idea.  Give all us guys collecting SSA payments a one time lump sum of $500k and take us off SSA payments for the rest of our lives.  Let the SSA fund build up so the young guys can get their full SSA retirement benefits.  Take the money from all the ones worth at least $1B to fund this.  If that not enough drop the threshold lower in $50m increments.  That sounds like a good Democratic Socialist solution to me.

Wait until you see what tax % the liberals would demand on that.

Might be lucky to have the equivalent of five years of SS income left.

We know AOC wants to tax those over $10mil 70%.  People earning that much a year are not dummies.  They will find ways to hide the money or send it overseas (legally).

It has to be tax free.  And give us free medical too, Medicare is almost worthless unless you are dying in the hospital.

But Kim did get a woman out of prison (pardoned).  So credit where it's due.

I heard an interesting comment by a British PM shortly after WWII.  This was in Michael Moore's Sicko that he produced before he showed his true colors.  The PM said "After WWII, we realized if we could fund an entire war, why can't we fund free healthcare?".  Shortly after, they had free healthcare. But then again, their military isn't as powerful as ours and we had to save them 2x, so I guess defense budget is greater than healthcare.

Doctors there don't own 3 homes and 5 sports cars.  Majority have 1 very nice home and 1-2 cars, according to his movie.  I actually enjoyed Sicko and Bowling for Columbine.  He didn't really come out and give his opinions like how he does now and suffering from TDS, but asked questions that generally gave you an idea what his opinions are.

That quote is nothing more than a twist on the age old "guns versus butter" debate. Nations all have finite resources. There's always a trade-off for every decision to invest resources. Often the opportunity-cost is the real cost of those decisions.

Our rail is a perfect example. Given the other problems the state faces (homelessness, poor water main and processing systems, etc), they are placed on a lower priority (with fewer resources) than rail.

How many times has the GET been raised to fund homelessness solutions?

the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.
