Watching the news last night....
I can't believe people still run to Costco in hordes for stuff like water and gas.
So sad.

It's not like we didn't have advanced warning.

My wife has a phobia about running out of TP, so we are always stocked...

We have a hard rule about never going below 1/2 tank of gas, and I scored 11 gallons of ethanol free before Hector, and ran the generator just to make sure.  We keep canned stuff on hand as a matter of course, so really nothing to do but take down wind chimes, etc.

We have a small dipping pool of maybe1,500 gallons, so water should not be a concern with my filtering gizmo,

Driving through Waipahu this morning, most gas stations only had 1 or 2 cars.
So I stopped to top off the tank.

Texaco on Beretania and Keeaumoku was super bad too. The station near the NEX looked like a Costco. I guess folks like Texaco.

A guy was at Texaco but the stadium this morning and he said a few stations in Waipio were out!

I never understood why folks rush to get toilet paper.  Do they only have enough toilet paper for like a week?  I mean I'm not that well stocked, but I almost always have enough TP for many weeks.

One year my wife and I both stopped at Costco within an hour of each other on the way home one night before a hurricane warning. We both bought extra TP and probably had 6 months worth at that time. Besides having a good laugh over it, we still have some of that TP stashed away.

I worked with a lady who told me there was a TP shortage on Oahu in the 70s. Ever since then, she and many others she knows have purchased TP everywhere they went. They developed a habit of buying from outer island stores to bring back to Oahu.

She said she took a look in her cabinets a few years ago, and she had TP in every closet, cabinet, storage space and anywhere else she could stash it.

A high school classmate’s mother was a TP hoarder. Something like when she passed, there were rooms full of TP. Like many years worth of TP for a whole family.

My friend just showed me the new ADU they added.  The bathroom had a Toto toilet with a remote control unit.  Press a button and the lid lifts up.  You can sit, make your deposit, press a button and get your butt hole squirted with water, press dry and a blow dryer will dry you up.  No need toilet paper or even have to wash your hands.  He said he never tried it but his wife does.

Loaded my range mags last night for the AR.  I remember watching a show about the Tet Offensive.  Some bases were unprepared.  So they had to put soldiers on a deuce and a half to transport them to the gates.  But since they were not expecting an attack ever, many didn't have any loaded mags.  So they had to load them as they were in route to the gates.

This is a very time consuming process.  So I can imagine how long it would take and being under stress.  But i believe when it happened, the 20 rounders were being used.
