Senator John McCain's Funeral -- One Last Political Mud Bath
« on: August 30, 2018, 11:26:34 PM »
Apparently John McCain had a list of people he did not want invited to his funeral besides President Trump.

Sarah Palin, his VP pick when running against Obama/Biden in 2008, has been told not to attend.

Also, three of his closest campaign advisors for his presidential bid have been told to stay away.

McCain's family is handling the guest list, so it's possible some of these high profile "snubs" are their doing.

But it still begs the question: If Palin was good enough to be McCain's running mate as VP, how the heck is she not good enough to attend his funeral?

It's sad (and mean?) that he stayed in office until the last possible moment rather than show some class and gracefully bow out as soon as he was diagnosed.  If his family was that important to him, he would have opted to spend his final days making memories with them and managing his disease, not refusing to give up his Senate seat.

Before he died, he asked Barack Obama to deliver one of his eulogies.  That tells me everything I need to know about John McCain, the Swamp Critter.

Personally I don't care who he decided to not be invited to his funeral.

He asked Obama and Bush to deliver eulogies. Maybe he wanted two perspectives? Nothing conclusive about his decision to invite previous opponent.

I am not going to try and disect who was told to stay away and why. Pointless speculation.

Funny. You already "pointlessly" speculated ("Maybe he wanted two perspectives?").

We don't have to "speculate" about "who was told to stay away". That's public knowledge, at least in a number of cases of higher profile individuals (Trump, Palin, etc.).

I don't believe there is any necessity to "speculate" about the "why" either. Seems pretty obvious.

@Flapp from what I can recall Joe Lieberman was his first choice.  McCain would never have made it out of the convention with his political life if he’d done so.  So his campaign settled on Palin since she was a rising star, would have courted a strong female following, etc.

McCain knew damn well that he wasn't going to return to office, but didn't give up his seat.  There is a reason behind that.

For the guest list, I could care less who was there or wasn't.  I'm not a McCain fan because I do believe he is a RINO.  6 terms and he did nothing for our vets that he claims he cares so much about.  He even stated in an interview that the current VA health system is good as it is.  Then a year later, got cancer and went to the Mayo Clinic.

For his POW thing, I give him  a break even if he did sing like a song bird.  We weren't there and everyone has a breaking point.  And when he did get to the Hanoi Hilton, he had a broken arm and leg.  So he didn't show up in perfect conditions like how you start SERE.  I do believe many of his medals were politically driven though.  But when they were awarded, he wasn't thinking about a senate run.  No one is going to turn down a medal, so they were out of his control.

What makes me go hmmm is that Soro's supported him and he had many democrats support him, even the ones he ran against in 08 who bashed him at that time.  When that senator got shot at the softball game, it was crickets from the dems.

My bet is that his grave will have a 24/7 guard for the next few years.

To make sure he stays buried?   :geekdanc:

Perhaps pointless was not the right term. I should have said that it was juvenile discussion only to serve a desire for gossip. So he didnt like Trump, so what?

The discussion is not just about Trump.

Pay attention.

Trump may have been absent in body, but he was definitely there in spirit.

From what I've read, the "funeral" was no different than the last few "We Love Us" Hollywood award shows:  Trump bashing from start to finish.

Each new public display of Trump hatred by Liberals and RINOs makes me that much more confident we elected the right person.

It is indeed funny how McStain was a racist in 2008, and now is some sort of leftist saint.

It's obvious the Democrat Party is dying ....

Why else would they be holding a political rally at a funeral?

He's already on the East Coast. That's Air Force Two in the background.
