csi meatball bullets
« on: February 10, 2010, 02:14:29 PM »
i remember seeing an episode on csi vegas where a guy killed another guy using frozen meatball bullets.  when the csi guys went looking for the bullet evidence all they found was meat and they thought it was just the guys guts.  is that really possible? wouldnt the meat cook when the gunpowder explodes?  i know its just tv but it really made me think.

MythBusters did this.

Actually, they started with the legendary ice bullet, and found that to be totally busted.  But they went on to try other frozen substances, including ground beef.  It worked.  You can make a bullet from frozen meat that will function well enough to do the job.  If I recall, they were firing into ballistics gelatin at close range, so no word on the accuracy.  But the concept of a nearly-undetectable bullet is sound.

The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

Wow, that's pretty neat. If you wanted it really undetectable, you'd need to use an air gun.

Interesting. I found the video Tom was talking about:

The poisoned umbrella-gun at the end is pretty neat too.
