Christine Blasey Ford's changing Kavanaugh assault story leaves her short on credibility

As a sex-crimes prosecutor, Republican questioner Rachel Mitchell is well-positioned to “know it when she
sees it.” But rather than see Ford as a victim of sexual abuse by Kavanaugh, Mitchell saw her as a witness
lacking in credibility. And this conclusion comes from an expert who knows that there are many reasons
victims delay reporting sexual abuse. Mitchell also recognized that victims may legitimately not remember
certain details related to an attack.

But the problem for Ford is not that she doesn’t remember everything: It is that everything she remembers
changes at her convenience.

First, Ford’s testimony that the assault occurred in the summer of 1982, when just 15, conflicted with both
her therapist’s notes and the text message Ford sent to the Washington Post. According to reporter Emma
Brown, Ford claimed she had been assaulted in the mid-1980s; and the therapist’s notes stated Ford had
been the victim of an attempted rape in her late teens. But by that time, Kavanaugh was attending Yale, so
Ford’s recasting of the attack to the summer of 1982 is suspect.

The article goes on to list statement by statement and how the "facts" are fluid each time Ford recounts them.

Reminds me of the old adage: If you just tell the truth, you won't have to remember what you said.

Another theory as to why Ford started cooking up a false allegation charge against Kavanaugh in 2012, the year she told her "therapist" about an unnamed Federal Judge in DC attacking her 30 years earlier.

She may have been worried Romney would defeat Obama in 2012.  Obama wound up appointing 2 Supreme Court justices 2 years earlier and nominating a third in 2016, so her fear would not have been unfounded.

Guess who was on Romney's short list of nominees .....

That would make a pretty crazy drama suspense movie!

Funny how Feinstein wants the FBI instigation classified.  What info could there be that makes this a national security matter?  They're the ones who called for it.

Wouldn't a law enforcement investigation into a sex assault accusation normally be classified at some level though? Surely an in progress investigation isn't usually made public.

Insurance claims paperwork is kept on file by the insurance company.

If she paid by check, the bank has a record.  She probably still has the checkbook register or duplicate check in that stack.  Nowadays, unless you're totally paranoid, most people stopped using checks and opted for making payments electronically, which means we don't cycle through checkbook registers and duplicates as fast.  I'm sure I have 6-year-old duplicate checks in the current checkbook in my safe.

If she paid by credit card, the card company has a record.

If she paid cash, the therapist has a record.

The patient isn't the only party who needs to keep records.

No doubt that if people went digging a record could probably be found somewhere, what I meant was that the fact she doesn't have it on hand, to me, doesn't make her claim that she saw a counselor less believable. Now if the FBI went digging and couldn't find any proof whatsoever then I would say that there are honesty concerns.
