Wouldn't a law enforcement investigation into a sex assault accusation normally be classified at some level though? Surely an in progress investigation isn't usually made public.

Nope.  FBI didn't do a criminal investigation.  Nothing you said irrelevant.

FBI reopened the background check and added reports of additional interviews.  That's all they can do when there's no formal complaint of a crime.  This is still all playing out based on a hand-scribbled statement she sent to Feinstein.  No one has jurisdiction to do a criminal investigation.  Period.

The rules of the Senate are what's relevant.  The background file goes to the White House, then it's forwarded to the judicial committee for their consideration.  There are also financial records reviews.  The Office of Government Ethics, along with an ethics official from the relevant agency, reviews the financial disclosures. If they find conflicts of interest, they may help the candidate mitigate them.

This is still a confirmation, not a public trial. Accusations should not be used to air the nominee's dirty laundry publicly when there is no evidence the accusations are true.

I'm sure the gist of the background check will be blasted all over the news.

Republicans:  The FBI exhaustively and professionally followed up on every available witness, and the interviews offered nothing new into Dr. Ford's allegations.  The matter is now closed, with our apologies to Judge Kavanaugh.

Democrats:  Kavanaugh is evil!  He can't be allowed to be confirmed.  Trump micromanaged the FBI's half-assed investigation and didn't;t talk to 25% of the people crawling out of the woodwork to support Ford and make new accusations against Kavanaugh.  If he's confirmed, it will destroy our democracy!!  We need another delay to find out whether or not the FBI did their job the way we arbitrarily decide is sufficient.

No doubt that if people went digging a record could probably be found somewhere, what I meant was that the fact she doesn't have it on hand, to me, doesn't make her claim that she saw a counselor less believable. Now if the FBI went digging and couldn't find any proof whatsoever then I would say that there are honesty concerns.

She's had 6 years to get her ducks in a row.  There needs to be at least some modicum of common sense standards applied to this accuser.  So far, people like you seem to have 1M reasons her story could make sense, why she can't produce a single piece of evidence to corroborate anything she says, and why Kavanaugh should be punished for claims he did a bad thing in high school without that evidence.

Maybe if she's that bad at supporting her stories, she should have kept it to herself?  Once he's confirmed, just like Clarence Thomas, what will her efforts have accomplished .... other than delay the inevitable and reap a million bucks from Liberals via go-fund-me donations?

The woman in the picture is the one Ford's boy friend said Ford helped before her FBI polygraph.

They seem to be lifelong friends.

Of COURSE McLean would say she never received help from Ford. A statement like that could land her in jail.  The FBI frowns on employees taking steps to beat their tests.  Kind of defeats the whole purpose.

Protester yells at Lindsey Graham: "Why won't you make Kavanaugh take a polygraph?"

Graham: "Why don't we dunk him in water and see if he floats?"

A couple of relevant, if slightly peripheral, articles today:

Toxic diversity

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2018/10/toxic_diversity.html

Those activists who accosted Jeff Flake in a Senate elevator made him feel threatened.  Would those two women have approved if two men had cornered Sen. Hirono in an elevator and yelled at her for being dismissive of men?

Are there no mothers with sons in Hawaii?

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2018/10/are_there_no_mothers_with_sons_in_hawaii.html

But far and away the most significant comment, I think, came from Hawaii's apparent patroness of feminist rights, Senator Mazie Hirono, who said early on that "I just want to say to the men of this country: Just shut up and step up."

The Democrats have made polarization politics into an art form – balkanize the electorate, demonize a particular group, rally the faithful around the blazing fire at the stake as the demonized group is destroyed.  But what an interesting group that Hirono and the other Democrats have targeted for pillorying: men.  The subgroup "men" intrinsically breaks down into secondary subgroups such as fathers; uncles; brothers; and, most interesting of all, sons.  You can't tar men without tarring all of the subgroups, and that includes sons. Therein lies the rub.

Over a hundred million American women have sons.  So these hundred million American women have a problem: how can they trash and dismiss American men if in doing so they trash and dismiss their own sons?  It may be too much to ask of Senator Hirono, but I wonder if Senators Collins and Murkowski – or more importantly, all those moms in Maine and Alaska – are okay with throwing their sons under the bus as Senator Hirono and the accusers of Brett Kavanaugh seem to be.

Trump said it perfectly the other day.  Now is a dangerous time in our nation.  You're guilty until proven innocent.  Compared to how it should be, innocent until proven guilty.

4 dentist were arrested in Vegas because a woman said they raped her.  Well I guess they took video and all were released and charges dropped.  Did the vid show the "Eiffel tower"?

So if you're a dentist, watch out. =P Heads.

I figure with all the gnashing of teeth over his supposed beer guzzling in high school and college, that adult beverage would be the most "in your face" to the Democrats.

Not only will Kavanaugh give the Conservatives a 5-4 "majority" on the Supreme Court (which are lifetime appointments), this confirmation circus has energized a lethargic Republican voting base who's become complacent after almost 2 years of winning.

It's the Obama Effect all over again.

Thanks, Spartacus!!

Another anti-Kavanaugh narrative (lie) shot down in flames.

Democrats used to be able to win by controlling the narrative.  Now, it looks like the truth matters more.

Thank you, Internet.  No longer can the main stream Liberal media control the message.

Amy Schumer just got arrested protesting Kavanaugh.  Some reports say arrested, others say just detained.

Something to talk about at her next Hollywood party.

Meaningless acts of actors.

Not saying Senators have to be perfect, but to judge a good man guilty with no direct, circumstantial or corroborating evidence
is pure hypocrisy when you look at their own pasts.

In Washington D.C.  I expect to see her picture on a milk carton.
