THE BLACKLIST - Handl Defense BUYER BEWARE
« on: September 25, 2018, 09:23:43 PM »
I always wanted an aluminum lower for my SCAR 17 that allowed me to use AR-10 pattern magazines - like my favorite Lancers.  So on 9/11 Handl Defense sent me an email saying my item was back in stock so I didn't hesitate to order it.  Everything went smooth, and my card was charged on 09/13.  According to their site, you're supposed to get a tracking number which I never got, and after 2 emails, and 3 follow up phone calls, the last of which was this morning.  I still haven't heard a peep from the company.  When I called this morning their voicemail was full and couldn't take anymore messages - not a good sign.  So I did some digging when I got home and this is what I found:

Hnadl Defense
128 W. Pepper Place
Mesa, AZ  85201

CEO: Alan Handl CEO (Formerly of Top Notch Tactical)  Frank Plumb CEO Handl Defense

So it's not just me that's had a problem, and I suspect there are a lot more unhappy gun owners out there that have either given up or just written them off completely.  It appears it's a pattern with Mr. Handl since his last company (Top Notch Tactical) also had the same "customer service" and "product delivery" issues.  As you'll see in the links one guy is out $15K and another is out $5K. I didn't spend nearly the amount either guy did, but I've already disputed the charges with my credit card company and will be filling a complaint with the AZ AG's office.   So my lesson learned.  As you can see the item I purchased is still in stock: https://www.handldefense.com/product/mk17-m110/.  So spend your money elsewhere  :shaka:.  Reminds me of On Target Hawaii, who I saw a few months ago at Sam's Club - Pearl City in the food court. I knew it was him from the KHON Spot he did as well as the pictures members have posted on here.  His hair was almost down to his shirt collar and he'd grown a beard.   He was with his son so I sat down opposite of him at another table, and mouthed the words "Sup Darrin".  I watched with a smirk as his eyes went wider and he left shortly after.

That sucks!   >:(

Hope you can recover your money or get the product, though at this point not sure you will even want it.  I tend to stick with my tried and true vendors.  Worst I've been suckered is by what I should have realized was a "too good to be true" deal on a high dollar backpack for a fraction of the cost.

Thanks for sharing. Good to have a list of good vendors as well as ones to avoid at all costs.

Thanks for sharing... horror stories like this is one of the reasons I'll only do business with established companies with stellar reputations.
"The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

Just as I was about to send the AZ AG my email complaint, I got a notification in my inbox saying that Handl Defense had sent me a package.  Could it be?  I didn't want to get my hopes up until I go the package in hand and was able to confirm it was the item that I had ordered.  It showed up today and I was relieved it was what I had ordered back on the 11th.  So if any other SCAR owner out there reads this, just expect to have zero communication from the company or the reps.  Rather than wrap the lower in bubble wrap, he wrapped in in a bubble padded envelope you get for free from the post office.   ???  For a $350 lower you'd think he'd be able to afford to go to Home Depot and get a $12-$15 roll of industrial green bubble wrap instead of send me this weirdo folded flag shape napoleon napple of a disaster shoved into a UPS box.
