I was having a long and very civil discussion with 2 snowflakes on FB this afternoon with my nephew also chiming in. All we were discussing was how great the economy is doing and all of the sudden the posts starting with the economic stuff just disappeared. 

My nephew says it happens to him all the time. Something is really wrong on FB.

FB,Google, IG, youtube, yahoo all deleting stuff.  Hope the feds come in with fines and penalties.

A few months ago I tried to find the video of the teacher punching the Trump supporter 4 feet away from a bunch of cops.  Couldn't find it on youtube and when googled, it was like 4 pages in.

Yahoo edits the comments.  Many are pro Trump comments in the morning (HST), but turn to all liberal comments around 1pm or so.  They want to make people think the Trump train isn't as strong as it is.

I notice that all the time, esp on comments on HNN posts. There are tons of responses to comments that are longer there.

It is sad. I have heard of this actually happeneing but I never thought it would happen to me. I figure that there was something insulting or whatever that would cause this to happen. But even though the flakes were idiots, it was terribly civil. My nephew and I were upbeat and high on how great things were happening in the economy.

This is one reason I canceled my FB account.  Also, they added that stupid limit on how many replies they allow before they block all but the most recent 2 or 3.  I get a notification someone replied to my comment, but I cannot go read my comment or reply to theirs because they are all hidden.

Such a joke.  A really unfunny, sarcastic joke.

I think it is possible that if the person who started the thread of comments deleted their initial post then all comments get deleted as well. Did just your comments get deleted or was the whole discussion deleted?

The person who started the thread is my nephew. It started with his post about how wonderful and beautiful the day started off. He has a couple of school friends who are a couple of whining snowflakes. They are 52. Both live in CA and one is on SSDI and the other is a working wife/mother. Both constantly whine and complain that their lives are so awful and they are not getting their share. Anyone better off than they are is a target. So they target him constantly because he loves his life right now. Let me tell you he is the husband of my niece. When he was young he drank very heavy. He has diabetes and he lost his leg below the knee due to these two factors. He cleaned himself up and met and married my niece. He is now on SSDI, Medicare, and just recently almost died due to an infection in his partial leg that went unnoticed. He had to have another section of leg removed above his knee and is now learning to walk again with his new prosthetic leg. When he is not doing PT with his new leg he is in a wheelchair or crutches which he had not done for many years until this all happened to him. BTW, he is allowed to keep his SSDI and work part time making less than $1k a month and maintain his benefits. Now you have some background.

I posted how life was going for me. I am currently going through PT and recovering from knee surgery. He is an inspiration to me as his attitude towards life is always so upbeat no matter how hard things are for him. All of the sudden these two “friends” of his start in as to how bad things are in this country. Both my nephew and I started talking about how great the job market is and the economy is booming. So I asked the snowflake on SSDI if he was working part time, which he is allowed to do to help his financial situation. He refused to answer. When I asked how much he pays for rent? He lives rent free with his aunt. So he gets all his expenses paid for him by his aunt and spending money from the government. He apparently is not getting very much from the government cuz he was whining constantly. He even complained about how bad Medicare is. The wife was working a minimum wage job and the husband was not doing much better. So I asked her what she is doing to better herself so she can make more money for herself and her family. Her answer was she is not getting her share from society. At that time I was writing a post suggesting things she could do to improve her life financially when I pressed the post button an error cloud came up and said that the thread I was posting to no longer existed. When I went back the original posting was still there, only the how great the day posts were there. The whining snowflakes posts were there about how bad things are for them. But everything else discussed about how the economy is doing and how well the employment is going and the entire thread about how these two could improve themselves was gone. POOF!

My nephew did not delete the posts. He told me it happens a lot to him on FB.

I want to cancel my FB and like accounts, but it helps me keep connected with friends who I don't hang with.  Damn monopoly.

But to be honest, I don't post anything political on my timeline and try to limit comments to facts not emotion when replying to groups.  I don't talk politics on friends timeslines when they post stuff.

I wonder if she reported you or comments and that led to things being deleted.  Have you noticed comments being deleted in just casual/light responses?  I've only noticed what appears to missing responses when the discussion had turned sideways.  I had assumed that folks deleted their own comments after some reflection, much like how many here seem to go back and remove their posts.  So all you notice are what appear to be responses to comments that are no longer there. 

Ahh, no matter.  There are bigger things in life to consume my time, but selective censoring would bother me.

She may have or the other snowflake may have reported it. I really can't imagine anyone reporting any of it because it was not in any way terse. Unless one of them is easily triggered? And if it was reported then why wasn't I given a warning. I have been given warnings about things I have shared that were considered suspect. Only the posts between the 4 of us were removed. And only the economic related posts. The remaining posts between the 4 of us that were unrelated to economics remained.

I am with you. I have moved on from this. However, if a better website comes along I'm leaving FB as fast as I can.

My other thought was that if someone had reported the comments of a certain user that Facebook might delete them pending review. Would just have to wait to see if the comments come back later to see if that theory is correct.

I would be interested to see if a pattern could be established on disappearing comments.

Just watched a video on FB of a young boy shooting deer from a tree stand. There was his father (or at least an adult) in the stand and giving him a “that’s my boy”. Anyways, There was a FB note that said something about FB didn’t remove in hopes that the boy might be saved.

I have a feeling one the snowflakes reported my statements about the economy being so strong. It probably triggered him. I spoke with my nephew and we figured out it happens often when he engages this one snowflake in particular. So we think when he loses a discussion he reports it as being hate speech or racist.

It’s funny and quite sad that honest words and truth can hurt someone so. I mean I’m totally against bullying and stuff, but just because someone says something that is not totally what you see then you get all butthurt and report them? I mean I see it as part of how the younger generations are taught and coddled. I mean it’s good that they are protected, but toughness is part of growing up as well.
