I have not had any personal experience with one. But I do remember reading a review or two on this gun. Bottom line if my memory is correct is that the trigger was not great but quality and fit and finish were good and accuracy for the price was excellent. I think retail was around $700 but I don't know what you can pick one up for on the street? Let me know what prices you are seeing these at.

I think the R1 is pretty nice for the price!

But then again I'm the guy that will buy a $2000 AK and a $500 AR...that's just me... :-\

I have a PT1911 45acp from Taurus and love it!

The 1911 PURIST sometimes hate the sight of a "RESONABLE" 1911

Call it cheap but I like the Rock Island, Taurus, Remmington, Springfield (made in brazil) type 1911's...

They all seem to fit my Budget

If the color of the 1911 doesn't matter to you, you should check out the ruger sr1911.  It's a series 70 design and from everyone who reviews them, it's got a real nice trigger on it.  I personally would get that one if i could afford another 1911....but i already own 2 lol.

While I have no first hand experience with the R1, if you are looking for a budget shooter the Rock Islands win hands down.  If you have more than $600 or so burning a hole in your pocket, you have many more guns to choose from.  Springers, Kimber Custom II, STI Spartan/Trojan, Para's, etc.....

Who's been stocking the rock islands lately? I haven't been seeing as many around as before.

I just bought  a SA range officer a couple months ago and it shoots great.  Accurate, tight fit, and no problems with semi wads or other types of  ammo. Only thing is trigger pull is a bit heavy for my liking, guessing 5-6 lbs, did some tweaking and some polishing and trigger feels great.  For $800 bucks, can't complain.

Online review of the R1 is good, but personal reviews says other wise.

I 2nd on the Springfield Armory OGC had them with nightsights for $799 a while back
