Yager Air Rifles made on the Big Island
« on: December 11, 2018, 05:47:25 PM »
I found these in a little hunting shop on the Big Island.

Yager (I believe that's the name) 9mm caliber air rifles.  tank rated to 5000 psi.  They do not need a firearm permit to purchase.

These are made by one guy on the Big Island, only on sale at this one shop.

I did not get a good look at them but they were 9mm/.357 lead pellets, I cant remember if they were round balls or bullet shaped.  The big one even had a 6 round magazine.

Any idea if they are regulated?  Some specs would be good if available.

There are many PCP guns for sale online.  Some shoot .50 cal.  Expensive to buy and expensive to charge with air.

Sorry, not being familiar with modern air rifles I did not know the right questions to ask and the guy who makes them does not have anything online about them yet

But this is the shop that sells them if you had questions:

Or if you post what information you want here, next time I stop by the store I can ask.

the 4500 PSI hand pumps are not that expensive though cant imagine how long it would take to fill up the tank by hand,

Hand pumps for PCP are about $300 or so.  I don’t want to pump it a few hundred times to get about 20 shots.  The best way is having your own compressor, but those a about $2000 or more.  As far as the guns go, there is no more restrictions than ordering or buying any other kind of air rifle.  I seriously looked into getting one, but overall it was just too expensive for MY budget.  They are also LOUD, at least the ones capable of killing pigs, deer and even bison are.

You can also equip them with suppressors as well, at least by federal law. I would have to double check on whether it applies to state law.

I have. .25 air rifle that is integraly  suppressed. I have a pump for it ( a lot of work) and I have a dive bottle to charge it from.

The rifle I have is the Talon SS made by Air Force. With pump, scope,  bi-pod, dive bottle and other acsessories I have about $1500 in it.

I only own a lowly Benjamin Discovery .22 PCP.  As I understand it, a regulator meters the air charge better on higher pressure guns to extend and make the shots a lot more consistent.

No regulator, you have a sweet spot in the pressure curve for most consistent shots as pressure drops off.  So i have read.  The most expensive PCP guns tend to be regulated.

Adds $$$ of course.
