Where I live in Puna, I have not heard any fireworks in the four years I have been here.  People around here are too poor to spend money on stuff like that.
Happily living in Puna

Had some here and there at my friend’s house in Kaneohe since Fri night. One house maybe a block away. Then another house answering what sounded like a few blocks away.

I can imagine what the west side is like. Good thing about living in town (at least my area) is little to no illegal stuff. I love fireworks, but some folks take it was too far.

It's great training for my dog. He gets really hates them so the illegals get him warmed up for NYE and it's not such a big shock to the system.

Last NY'rs on Oahu in Kalama valley, my big Siamese stood at the window facing the street watching the festivities.  Did not bother the crazy cat a bit.

The other one ran and hid.
