If she was on the Hilo side I'd go yell at her. Nothing even close to ritzy enough for her over here.

Nancy Pelosi Is Spending Shutdown at Hawaii Resort

Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi is spending the government shutdown at a luxury resort in Hawaii, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

Pelosi, who has put blame squarely on President Donald Trump for the current government shutdown, was spotted Thursday vacationing in Hawaii at the Fairmont Orchid resort, where room accommodations range from $899-a-night for a standard room to $4,899-a-night for the presidential suite.

The resort, on Hawaii's Big Island, features a golf course, six restaurants, and a 10,000-square-foot oceanfront pool. It also features a "Spa Without Walls," where the 110-minute Ali'i Royal Experience is available for $369 and a 50-minute couples massage runs $549, according to the spa menu. While at the spa, guests can snack on a gluten-free grilled prawn summer roll for $19.

Trump canceled his Christmas trip to Florida and remained in the White House, saying on Christmas Eve that he was "waiting for the Democrats to come back and make a deal." The president left the White House on Christmas to travel to Iraq and meet with American troops stationed overseas.

This is not Pelosi's first holiday vacation to Hawaii. In 2011, it was reported by the Hawaii Reporter that Pelosi had in previous years stayed in a $10,000-a-night suite at the Four Seasons Resort in Kona for her holiday vacation.

I do understand that it is the holiday season so trips were planned way in advance. So I do not blame any senator for not being in the office.  I do blame them for taking their pay check still.  At least AOC said something that made sense.  If gov shuts down, they shouldn't get paid.

It would be different if it were not the holidays and they were on vacation.

we could stop by and say hi.   But then again, the risk of seeing her in a bikini and turning to stone after removing my eyes with a spoon is just too high.

I wonder if the AG knows that her security detail will be carrying firearms without Hawaii permits?

I'm Hamakua side, but I do a yearly trek to NELHA on Kona side to pick up live seafood for our new years traditional feast.
There is a place at NELHA that provides Hawaii resorts with live, Lobster, Crab, Clams, Abalone, and what not.  They also
sell to the general public, although Resorts get priority.
The Kona airport is full of parked private jets, which tells me they are not all chartered.  Lots of rich people spend the holidays here.
The Orchid is really upper class, but Mauna Lani is where the rich people stay.
Note to you all,  these resorts are booked solid months in advance.

Only us "Little people" need permits that they will not issue even after Young v Hawaii.

Im sure the shutdown was planned well in advance as well.   Probably so they could get paid vacation time  ;)

.

It would be interesting if some photo's showed up of her security carrying.

I’ve worked around vips and it’s true there’s a whole separate rule book when it comes to private security for the rich and famous. Apparently all the regulations are only for us regular jack offs.
Stop blaming lazy people. We didn’t do anything.

Rumor has it that the four CC permits that Hawaii has issued were for the rich or famous.

The one on Kauai in 2006 was for a local judge, so that would be more "connected" than rich or famous. The one on Kauai in 2013, to the best of my research ability, went to either a military member or a member of their family, and the name isn't "famous".

I'd like to hear the "rumors" about the two issued in Maui in 2001 because Maui PD swears there are no extant records and no one there knows anything.

I know this is off the subject topic but the last couple posts mentioned CCW permits, I was curious about the status of judges and prosecutors.  Wouldn’t they “automatically “ be granted permits?  Like Mr Kaneshiro, as prosecuting attorney, isn't he considered a LEO as well as all his deputy prosecutors?

I don't know about the other islands, but the big island is "don't ask, don't tell".
Odds are here you are more likely to be killed by a cop than a crook.
Most our locals know the hazards of messing with people.
Small population, big island, lots of friends and family,
gulches, and wild pigs.
For example near where I live, I frequently
hear fully automatic fire late at night.
I don't call the cops.  I think anyone should be able to own
and shoot automatic weapons as long as they behave.
The cops won't show up, and if they do everyone will be gone.
The shooters will be irritated that someone called it in.
The cops will think I'm a snitch.
You figure it out.

Tried to pitch Hamakua to my wife before moving from Oahu.  She thought it too wet and remote.

Sounds like a nice, somewhat independent place.

I'm sure some have already been granted permits over the years, but their paper work after approvals were "lost" so numbers on AG website reflect zero.

I don't think that the prosecutors office are considered LEO.  Can anyone from that office pull you over and give you a speeding ticket or arrest you?  I could be wrong.

I had an uncle in the 1960s and 70s who was a Postal Inspector.  He couldn't pull you over for traffic violations but he was armed.
