I have one for .223.  Faster than trimming any other way EXCEPT with a Giraud.  The Giraud is the king of trimmers.

I don't trim mine. I just check a few, in the lot, to make sure they are all good. Straight wall pistol cases don't seem to stretch much, and I usually loose them before they come to the point where they are no good to reload.

you don't have to trim straight wall pistol, and I hardly hear anyone doing it but there are those that do it.  I guess it would make for more consistent chrono'ng.  That's why some people sort their brass and keep the # of times reloaded even.

Everything else is caveman compared to a Giruad or Gracey trimmer. Trim a 100 cases (full length and chamfer uniformly) in less than 10mins. well actually more like 100 cases within 3 songs played on 93.1 the zone.

graff polish in corn cobb media for about 3+ hours. put in about 100 or so cases, then fill corn cob media impregnated with graff polish that it just covers brass, cook for 3+ hours=BLING!

the gracey is really good too. although  the giraud comes with a better motor, blade and quick caliber change if you intend to do multiple calibers. i modified  mine to be like a giraud. it took some time and effort, but if i were to to do it again i would have ordered 2 girauds.

I reload for pistol only right now, .38/357, .44 SPL/MAG, .45ACP. I use a Lee Hand Press with Lee carbide dies, and I like the Lee factory crimp dies.
I also cast for all of the above using, you guessed it, Lee 2 cavity molds.

Given I live in a small place, move every 2-3 years, seldom shoot more than a couple hundred rounds at a range trip, an expensive bench mounted
set up didn't make sense to me. Not to mention that a lot of the old guys I know over at GBO admitted to me that they've pretty much gone back to a
hand press or simple press after reloading for decades. It takes longer, but I feel like I am more focused on each round. It also all stays in a tool box
that I can throw in the back of my SUV if needs be.

+1 on that.  I still got that single stage.  But still, one of these days I am gonna get something quicker.  I'd like to stock up on some, just for a rainy day.

I've been reloading handgun ammo so far (9mm and 45ACP).  I do have hardware for .223 and .308 just yet to test some loads.  I'm basically using a Lee Turret Style Press.  As for case preparation it's all drill mount hardware from Lee and Lyman.  But all I have to say is "Talk about Chinese Torture" when initially prepping your brass especially when you have 1000+ of each.

Reloading is a zen exersize.  time is irrelevant.   RCBS Jr single stage with a plethora of dies.   Will be bringing to Hilo if I decide to move.   Check out Ebay for reloading components. and make sure you have an RCBS trimmate for all your tools.

I want to watch someone reload lol, so I can really get an idea of what is going on and what all it takes.

mostly to see how long the process takes, because that will determine whether or not I get a better or worse machine.  I gotta know what I can live with, if it takes me a hour to 100 rounds, I probably won't like it.

Talk to Joe or Henry at Windward Guns.  They can talk to you about the basics.  Pretty cool guys.

I would start with a good manual (Sierra, Nosler, etc.) before you buy any equipment.  The manuals will cover the basics.

Thanks Gzire. I jumped into it and picked up a press and it's got the manuals and stuff.  I just need to order the components to get going.

In fact -- montanna gold here I come lol.

If I did not reload it would greatly reduce my range time. When I got my first Dillon I thought that I would rarely need any of my other presses. I was wrong. I use my Dillon for pistol and small rifle reloads such as 223 and 762x39. Any larger rifle cartridges are reloaded on a single station press.
